Many church people preach a kind of spontaneous salvation; which is achievable (at one fell swoop) by exclaiming deep emotional belief, and even romantic adulation of Jesus -- presumbly quaranteeing them a seat in Heaven, while the issue of sin vs. righteousness seems less important. If Jesus really were more interested in your adulation above all else (and would even exile to Hell righteous people who do not demonstrate a sufficient level of adulation, or are not fully aware of his greatness), does this perhaps suggest a Jesus who is egocentric?
Why are there religious doctrines that portray him thus?

Excellent question. Jesus said, "Not every one who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21), and "If you would enter life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:17).

That's a hard question to answer because I don't think Jesus' love is that black and white. Jesus' life on earth gave us two things: the possibility of eternal salvation and a perfect model on how to live. If you believe Christ died for your sins and ask him into your life, then you will have eternal salvation. The next step is learning about Christ's life and applying his example to your life. Following his path is minimizing sin in your life, so I think it's more of a belief and effort issue than a sin issue.

Jesus was humble and isn't going to punish people because of the genetics that wired their brains and all the other factors that lead a person to faith. Those non-believers who were righteous will be considered worthy of heaven in the book of life. There is nothing to worry about :)

That's a good question. There are too many people out there who are much more concerned with talking about God, and talking about "God's word" than LIVING God's word. I would hope that if there is a God, then He is not egocentric, and would look at the actions and life of a person before deciding to condemn them to eternal damnation.

The doctrine of truth teaches repentance of sin and faith in God for salvation and the ability to live holy lives. That's the only doctrine that reveals Jesus.

Belief means nothing. Actions are words are what ultimately count.

Jesus knows we can never be without sin. He wants us to believe in him so we can be saved.
