There are some christians on this forum who are a marvel to debate issues with, despite not agreeing with them, They are embodiment of integrity and I sincerely thank them for sharing their knowledge and faith with me . Unfortunately the forum is littered with ultra-conservative christians- many can't even finish reading a question to understand its context. They just huff and puff, in most cases not even answering the question. If they are a mirror of christianity, then I'm prepared to become a barbecue in hell than share a bread with pretenders to the faith. I can't claim that racists, homophobics and reactionaries are my brothers and sisters in Christ. The world is plagued by so many ills, from poverty to wars, and for people who claim to be walking in the footsteps of christ to be such hypocrites is disheartening. I can differentiate between something said in jest and outright redicule (whether said to me or not). I think if Jesus can visit christians on this site, he will weep!

For example, I always say I don't care if my BF isn't calling. But now, someone who's not even my boyfriend promised he would call, he didn't and I feel awful. Can't even explain why. Is this happening to anyone else?

The story of Noah's Ark is in the book of Genesis and it describes how many animals of each type were brought on board. How many female cows were brought on board. This is not as tricky as it sounds, you just have to look up the story of Noah in Genesis 5 and 6 to determine how many female cows were on board. If you want to get really fancy you can explain how many were actually around a few days after the flood and why the two numbers are different. Here is a hint, it isn't "one" or "two".

Some people I've talked with believe that you should just only pray to Mary and not worship her, because of the 1st commandment. Others say that you can worship her and won't be in violation of the 1st commandment. What do you say?

1. That there are more majority white colleges in the US than majority black ones?

2. That whites are more than free to attend majority black colleges, they are not “black only”?

3. That BET was created in response to MTV (which at the time only showed white people and “white” music) and is now owned by white people, so is NOT for blacks, by blacks?

4. NAACP was for ALL colored people, at a time when none had rights?

5. Affirmative Action states that NONE be judge on their race, ethnicity, gender or sexual preference? It is NOT unqualified people “taking” others’ spots? That if a student gets into a college that they are not “qualified” for, they will have to drop out?

To me, (1) racism is racism, and (2) racism towards whites would be like some cultures assuming a “wide eyes” is wicked and ignorant. Or a white person going into a bad neighborhood and getting shot, just because they were white and the person hated them, without even knowing their name.

1+2 = 4 would you argue that point with your math teacher when he says 1+2 = 3?

For instance you could say "the 1 is representative of 1 group of 2 so, 1 (group of 2) +2 = 4. It's all about how you interpret it", which is indicative of the typical Christian response.

Abortion is a women’s issue. Men have no right to even be involved.

First, people who think men have no right to be involved in the abortion issue should be careful what they ask for. Polls consistently find that women oppose abortion at a higher rate than men, they are more opposed to government funding of abortion, more active in the pro-life movement, and are more likely to favor banning abortion outright. It is abundantly clear that if men were excluded, support for abortion would plummet.

Second, men don’t need to be given the right to speak out against abortion, they already have a responsibility to do so. Real men don’t just stand around with their hands in their pockets while helpless children are slaughtered for money. Third, the pro-choice crowd never tells men who support legal abortion to keep quiet, and they have never said that the 1973 Supreme Court had no right to be involved in the Roe v. Wade decision, despite the fact every member was male.

They also don’t seem to mind that the overwhelming majority of abortionists are men, and they never say anything about the male “escorts” outside the abortion mills or even the men who force women into having abortions. Evidently, the only men these people want to be censored are those who think women deserve better than abortion.

Finally, if the argument is that men shouldn’t be allowed to participate simply because they can’t get pregnant, what about women who can’t get pregnant? Should only young, sexually active, fertile women who are not practicing birth control be allowed to have an opinion about abortion?

Hi, I live in U.S. and I wanted to ask about the pubs that I saw when I was on holiday there . I think people in England dont look down on pubs like they do here in u.s.. we call them bars . I enjoyed the lively social interaction you could find at an english pub. and you didnt find all trash there , like you mostly find in bars in u.s., the people were much friendlier as well, you could talk about deep subjects , history, politics etc. and find intelligent conversation. as well as just random conversation with strangers. Here in u.s. if you go to a bar, you better bring your own friends because the people are less friendly and accomodating to strangers and open as well as the english in their pubs. what is your thoughts about this?

All religions should get together and procalim a 'peace on earth' day - denying their politicians. All religions should walk hand in hand and denounce all form of violence. Stuff the terrorists, stuff the politicians - power to the people - or am I only dreaming

I cannot decide to believe or disbelieve - I'm the obligatory straddler.

When I listen to some religious figures I am filled with hope and I feel at peace. As soon as I'm off by myself I think it's all hooey.

Is this behavior better than outright atheism as I would at least be in the lobby in heaven and never in hell?
