Do you always say you don't care about something but when time comes, you actually hurt a lot?

For example, I always say I don't care if my BF isn't calling. But now, someone who's not even my boyfriend promised he would call, he didn't and I feel awful. Can't even explain why. Is this happening to anyone else?

Yea, thats happened with me many times. There's been people that promised that they would be over and I had the opportunity to do something else and didn't do it due to waiting around for this person that never showed up. Here I feel like a fool cause I wasted my time by having someone not show up, plus it makes me look weak that my life was centered around her, and to that I'm tied around her finger...so instead of me looking like I was wrapped around her finger...I'll tell people that I don't care whether she showed up or not. Anymore when people say that their going to come over or call...I'll give them a time period to call and a half hour lead way to come over...and after that, I might not be home. That really seems to work for me, but I have to stick to my word. I leave for work at 11:30am, and I tell people that if they call me, call me by 11am, after that I don't have to answer that phone and they can leave a message. It all has to do with respect, and if they can't respect me for that...then they can't respect me for anything else ;).
