Because the way our world is now, if you don't have financial stability first, it's very hard to grow up a child. Sex is not bad, it's the consequences of sex that make parents worried. Also, in some religions sex before marriage is considered to be a sin and people disapprove it.

You forgot to mention though that the girls of 12 who had children then were also married. I think life now has more meaning and more to look forward to and go through. It's not just about marriage and having children (At least not to everybody or I think most people).

From my personal point of view, people are also getting more and more immature. I don't know how responsible they were then at the age of 18, but I cannot recall many of my friends (I'm 24 now) that were independent and responsible then (some are not even close to that yet). We grow up with everything, we don't have to work, starve or try to survive. As a result of that it takes time to adjust and become entirely independent.

There are always the exceptions though. I know a couple of girls who had babies and got married before 18 and with the support and help of their families and friends they managed to finish school and have good lives.

The average lifetime has also increased which plays a significant factor.

I remember when I was young a friend's mum was really young and I use to think how nice it would be if my mum was younger and that I don't want to have a huge age gap with my children. Now, what I think is that If I don't have stability in my life, a permanent and trustworthy partner and be financially independent (and with lot's of savings in the bank), I'm not going to have a baby. A baby worths much more than that. You can't just think about yourself but also about ensuring a future. (Now, accidents do happen but birth control and condoms are quite trustworthy so it's not so hard to have a baby when you not only want to but when you feel that you can).

Do you really think a 12 year old girl is ready for sex? How about driving a car at 12? I suppose back when people on the average lived to be 25, having sex at 12 or 14 was a good idea,so that she can have all those kids before she died. Life was hard in those days, and early sex made it all harder. No real birth control, no education, STD's with no treatment. May die in labor. Yep, what a life!

So, what is the problem with sex at 12 now? Many problems. At 12, most girls are not ready mentally or physically. If she get pregnant, she may need a C-section because her smaller body cannot deliver. What about the father? If he is young, how is he going to support the child? If he is older, he may just be a pedophile. And what about her education? She is busy with kids, stunts her education, and what is she going to look like at 20? An old hag with stretch marks? There are health, religious, educational, and maturity questions as too why 12 is rather young to be active.

Back in the early history people didn't live as long as they do now-especially women who started having a child a year from age 12 or 13 until maybe 20-25 years of age, if they lived that long. Many men would go through 3 wives, having children by each before he died around age 45-50. In todays world the average life expectancy in in the 70-80 range and women have better prenatal care and start having children at an older age and have fewer children. As civilization advanced, we hopefully realized that children having children wasn't necessarily a good thing, as they aren't physically, mentally, or emotionally mature enough to handle the responsibilities of pregnancy or motherhood.

IN early history, there was also a completely different social hierarchy. Those 12 year olds having babies lived either in tribes or wealthy estates, where there were plenty of other women to help with the care and feeding of the babies. The raising of children was done in a communal fashion. Life in general was more communal - it was necessary for survival.

In today's society, most people live in a single family dwelling, and it is rare for extended family to live under the same roof. So if sex results in a baby, who will help the teen take care of it?

Now, if you are a responsible person - that is, having sex with ONE partner, and using BIRTH CONTROL as well as SAFE SEX PRACTICES, I don't see teen sex as "bad." The problem is, too many teens are NOT acting responsibly. That's why it is viewed as "bad."

you're ideal that youthful babies raised in puzzling relations situations have a tendency to have sex till now than different youthful babies of their crew yet do not get reason and result at a loss for words. some anybody is in undesirable situations and do wait to have sex. preserving off on sex is a trademark of having sturdy issues in different factors in existence. actual, i'd view it as a fulfillment if there have been fewer youngster pregnancies and STI situations. i'd view it as a fulfillment if there have been a lot less social rigidity and if it became extra a own portion of come to a call no matter if to have sex. human beings experience they are waiting and experience they are with the right man or woman at distinct a lengthy time period so i do not imagine there's a lot sturdy putting a range down. And why bypass there with "i understand you all hate me and picture i'm an irrational prude" ?? it truly is a lame infantile whine! If someone disagrees with you, it truly is all it truly is.

B/c in the prairie Laura Ingalls Wider age people lived to be up to forty at least so they had to get marred at 16. Now we live much much longer so we woman can wait for that kind of responsibility rather then get hitched at 16. I think it's a good thing too for I never wanted to have a baby at 16. I don't think I would've taken the pain of the contractions. Yes the legend where u can have sex once and get pregnant from it is true. My second cousin did that and poof despite a condom and birth control she got pregnant. That's just something for u to think about.

Back in the day, young women were plowing fields, building houses, cooking, cleaning, preparing food for then and the future. It was natural to have children too. They were ultra responsible and usually had a mate.
Today, children having sex for sex sake is unhealthy, because it is usually without responsibility and it can mess with one's mind.
There are so many other goals for young people to achieve than having someone use them for pleasure.

Good Luck & Blessings

The Ancients had their act together. Allowing young people to marry when they became sexually active. A older man told me they originally raised the legal age for being adults during the Depression. That way young men could not look for work since there were few jobs to begin with.
