It would have either been too hot for the penguins or too cold for the alligators!

Penguins probably reserved an airconditioned suite.

Animals do adapt over time (hundreds of years) and all the penguins could have had a common ancestor who liked warmer weather (Some penguins can handle temps in the 50's.

Remember, the world was much different before the flood. The air pressure and oxygen levels were about twice of what we have today (taken from amber) and the ice shield kept out harmful rays from the sun. The earth was almost tropical from pole to pole (they have found palm trees in Antarctica under the ice - still rooted).

They have penguins in the Washington D.C. zoo, even in the summer. It wouldn't be too hot for them on the ark, especially with it constantly raining and cloudy. Likewise, alligators can withstand cool temperatures. What do you think happens in Florida in the winter? Their winters are mild, but they still exist and are still chilly.

Goddidit! That's all a believer has to say.

Of course, any real omni-everything god could have found a more efficient way to slaughter the evil folk and spare the innocent, including plants and animals.

But we're not talking about a real god. Gods don't exist. This was just a silly story that was copied by the Jews from the Babylonian Gilgamesh Epic. It's no more based on fact than that story was.

Well since alligators and penguins live in the water I doubt he put them on the arc.

MOre important. Can the world flood in forty days? The bible says the bottoms of the oceans broke open and water flowed up.

Tale of Gilgamish does not have that noted.

When you steal stories from other cultures (in this case from the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh) and believe that the "World" extends only a thousand or less miles in any direction, you're bound to run into problems.

Surely all the waterbourne animals could just swim beside the ark. Not that that makes them any more likely to survive.

ChristyKelley: I have read "the word". It doesn't mean that it's true.

With God's help, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!! Try reading the word, it will help you to better understand God, and all of the History of our Ancestor's!!! For all we know he had one shed filled-with ice & snow, just for the snow animals!!! The Ark , was three, very large stories high!!! And altho, we have senomy's , and floods, in certain places, and hurricane's , God has still kept His promise with the RAINBOW!!! Everytime I see a Rainbow,, I think of God's promise, never to end the world with flood again!! I think God is a loving God, and decided that was too Brutal, so in His promise, the Rainbow is to remind us that He will never end this world or mankind, through flood again!!! How Beautiful is that!!?? Smile!!!!

He had zone-based climate control systems on his boat.

Either that, or we can fall back on the old, tired response "God performed a miracle and allowed them to live." It's how they explain EVERYTHING that violates common sense.
