I personally believe that gay people are enduring one of the most severe forms of oppression by being denied the right to marry. It wasn't long ago that women were being denied the right to vote and black people were denied all basic human rights, but we have come a long way. In the present time of 2007, gay people are still being discriminated against and I am outraged. REGARDLESS OF YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO DENY SOMEONE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MARRY? I am not gay, but feel a need to express my concern over this devastating issue in our country. It is a Human Rights issue and it is Real. We need a solution NOW.

I also have a meeting to go to that night. He hinted toward asking it off and then I told him I had a meeting to go to and he was really disappointed. I wish I could get out of the meeting but it's mandatory. I want to do something really special since it's our first one together. I don't care if we go out or if we buy presents, I want to DO something for him. But we won't be together until 9 or 10pm. Any suggestions on what I might do. Should I have him ask it off? Should I do something during the day? HELP!

Having watched the show on Jim Jones last night (Jonestown, mass suicide/murder in the name of the religious group they were a part of, late '70s) I wonder about the people who just kept going along with it even as the group/leader slowly slid into crazy cult status. I realize it's easy to just follow the crowd. So, how could those people have seen and understood that this cult activity was beyond both Christianity and reason? How do you know? At what exact point did they cross the line and what keeps you going well beyond the line?

I have 2 girls that are girlscouts. It is below zero today and both troop leaders never obtained the permits I need to sell cookies door to door. That being said, do you think it is tacky to write up a flyer with the cookies available for purchase and ask that if anyone is interested in buying some that they could call our home number and leave their order? I would put the flyers on their mailbox. Do you think anyone would purchase girlscout cookies this way?
