Probably it is the debris from another planet-turned-evil. God destroyed that planet with an explosion. One day Earth will be nothing but another asteroid belt.

No, because:
1. If you are talking about the belt between Jupiter and Mars, it is not within the sun's habitable zone.
2. There isn't enough material, even with all the asteroids combined, to make an Earth-like planet with enough gravity to retain its water vapour (necessary for life.) There isn't even enough material there to recreate Earth's moon, let alone Earth.
3. The interaction between Jupiter and Neptune with the Kuiper belt is constantly sweeping new asteroids and debris into the area. If a planet did form, it would be bombarded too constantly by debris for the complex ecology we have to form.

I have often pondered that question. Do you supose we will turn this planet into an asteroid belt like we very likely did that one??
You know Chief Josephs tribe (Native Americans from the north west) tell of 7 earth destructions and one would fit this scenario. Also those who claim to have been abducted by aliens say they were told that the crel experiments perpetrated on them are being conducted on them to make DNA chnges to prepare us for some future catstrophy, not sure how that might fit but just through it in as an interesting thing I thought might fit.

Why look for metal on earth when it is more conveniently available in the asteroid belt? Any being which is capable of interstellar travel would find it very easy to control the earths climate. Even man already has sufficient technology to do this. Homo Sapiens are much older than 40, 00 years, there is solid evidence for this. So called missing links are being found on a weekly basis. There is no real mystery, just ignorance. The development of D.N.A. from primative organism to man is demonstrable.

Or maybe we're all reincarnations of aliens who lived on a planet halfway across the galaxy that got swallowed up when its sun turned into a red giant.
