I know the answer may be obvious, but I'm not from here, and I'm not sure whether shopping centers stay open on this day. I know the bank will be closed, and I don't want to make the trip to the shopping center to find it closed!

haha...

Anyway... thanks!

There are so many stages in mankind's ongoing story that it can make you dizzy.

So, breaking it down goes something like this...God shows up after they ate the fruit from the forbidden knowledge tree, and he wants to know what happened...right away Adam blames it on Eve. Eve pleads the 5th. God says, "Alright, you broke the lease by doing that. So I'm breaking your lease and kicking you out. I am very disappointed in you. Especially with you Eve. I am so upset with you that I am going to give you and all women a monthly reminder of this act. I'm also giving you the pain of bearing children for you and all women.
I think you get the picture. The story really seems difficult to interpret, even though I am a devout follower of Christ.
What are your thoughts?

..some of the stuff got me thinking.. The name of the book is 'Hello Mister God, This is Anna' and here is a bit of the book:
The whole business of adults going to church filled Anna with suspicion. The idea of collective worship went against her idea of private conversations with Mister God. As for going to church to meet Mister God, that was preposterous. After all, if Mister God wasn't everywhere, he wasn't anywhere. For her, the church-going and 'Mister God' talks had no necessary connection. For her the whole thing was transparently simple. You went to church to get the message when you were very little. Once you had got it, you went out and did something about it. Keeping on going to church was because you hadn't got the message, or didn't understand it, or it was 'just for swank.'
So then, why do people go to church? If you already believe and love and you take the time to pray at home, isn't that enough? And like Anna said, if God isn't everywhere, then he isn't anywhere right?

I have always wondered what the losing side of a war teaches about the causes of that war, or the reason it was lost. What is the difference between how an American teacher might teach it and a British teacher?

If you are from a country outside the U.S., does your country teach about world wars only, or wars involving your country only, a mix of both? Any people from smaller countries, do you learn about European/ American wars? Even the non-significant ones (7 years war/ war of 1812?)

People who are sometimes accused of herd behaviour are followers of religions, new religious movements, and cults, especially if they follow a charismatic leader. Nazism and communism are for many people the most shocking examples of this kind of herd behaviour. Here the term "herd behaviour" seems quite inappropriate for the actual behaviour of the group, however, since people are clearly responding to a leader, and their behaviour is often closely co-ordinated with careful delineation of roles. Deciding to affiliate to such a group, however, can reasonably be thought of as a craze like any other.
