Of course not people haven't changed. People fear what they do not understand and no matter what other races say African Americans are discriminated against the worst . Like the woman on here saying that she is a white woman who is discriminated against because she is white that may very well be true but walk a day in the shoes of a black woman and I guarantee that your so called discrimination would seem minute . Even on here i read All of these racist and derogatory things about minorities and it is so sad that I have to raise my nieces in this type of world where there success is limited because of the color of their skin. Martin Luther King would be disgusted and if he weren't I know that I am. I pray that the KKK DUDE ON HERE DOESN'T HAVE CHILDREN IF SO I PRAY FOR THEM AND HOPE THAT THEY DON'T FOLLOW THE VIEWS OF THEIR IGNORANT *** OF A FATHER

I think that he would see the progress that has been made as a large leap from what used to be. And he would see that where we need to go, is yet again a large leap from where we are right now. He would be happy to see people of other countries and even domestic cultures, join together to create thriving ideas, businesses, and families. I think if he were alive today, he would be somewhat pleased but would also see that an aggressive goal is neccessary to further our unity as humans. Part of this would be helping people to understand that putting the blame on (foreign matters) or "illegal aliens" as one person spoke of-defies our very effort in coming together. How embarrassed he would be to hear that someone is actually complaining that "illegal aliens" are taking jobs from african americans. His intention for the black community was not to have them "strive" for under-paying, thankless, and many times abussive jobs... Am I wrong? And his efforts were not only to help empower the black community, but as well, to strengthen the hearts and open the minds of the entire reachable human race. We're still slowly but surely movin' on up p.s.great question

I am chosing to answer this question only because I am going to address something people don't talk about. Why is it, when racism is address, it's for blacks and hispanics? I am a white woman and I have been blasted by opposite races for me being who I am. I have friends that are foreigners, Americanized, but they get the rude comments too. I think MLK would be ashamed of his people. They have gone from being made fun of to the ones being the bullies. It is shamful that this world has come to that. I make fun of noone. I judge noone. But there will always be someone that thinks they are better than me...shame on them.

The area of the US that I live in (the tri-state) is a giant melting pot. If Dr. King were to come back to life for one day, I'd hope he would choose to walk down my block in the Summer. He'd see Hispanic, Asian, West Indian, Black and Hispanic kids playing by a fire hydrant sprinkler, with the moms talking gossip on the porches, and the fathers trying to tinker with cars. I'd bring him to the barbeque at Richie's(he's half black & white) house that he's having for his birthday. Dr. King would eat some of Jose's Mom's empanadas, or some of my aunt's Toron (a Filipino food). Dr. King would have a great time, and when the day was over, he'd go back to his grave, happy to see his dream fulfilled; at least where I live at.

no, but MLK would recognize that racism is NOW internalized. I have had employers tell me MY NAME SOUNDS TOO AFRICAN( HOW DOES LISA SOUND AFRICAN?), That My hair needed to be straightened because it is curly, and how my hair was "unprofessional" how is CURLY hair unprofessional? I don't wear dreads or braids, so how is it? Also, I have been told many times by employers that I was fat because I have a big booty! I am only 120, HOW IS THAT FAT? THEY JUST SAY THAT BECAUSE I HAVE A BIGGER BOOTY, but I am little like a toothpick!

No, I think he would hang his head in shame, But there are more interracial couples now (that are not hidden, like mine)! I guess that's in some way of joining races.
