God believers always bring up something that scientists haven't figured out yet to justify their belief.

This is called the "God of the gap" argument. It automatically makes ones belief opposed to intellectual advancement, since any new discovery would reduce the unknown, thereby reducing God.

Perhaps God is what is keeping the belief in God from dying out....it's been around for a very long time.
There are things you don't know, perhaps God is one of them.

That and the desire to live forever. If everything was known and religion started saying that there's no afterlife, churches would empty out pretty fast.
