You guys feel like it is your duty or something to convert people right? Then you get mad when people ask valid questions. Although there are immature people of every faith on here, most Atheists make valid points and ask real questions. You can't expect intellegent people to just believe in something and not ask questions first.

Also, I hear a lot of comments about how atheists need to get out of this section. Why would any Christians say that?

Also, it seems like many Christians on here think even if people aren't Atheist they still have no right to be on here if they aren't Christian. If you want to talk on an only Christian forum where everyone agrees with you, I'm sure some exist, and this is not the place. All religions and spirituality, and those curious about those things should be welcome here.

I hope everyone will help make this a mature peaceful area, that we can disagree in and learn from each other as well. Does anyone have any comments, responses?

I have just taken my dog for a walk, and coming home, we passed a field, and a farm gate. My dog went nuts barking, then i saw some boots sticking out from the gateway. I felt a bit scared, i took a look, and there is this guy, curled up in the gateway. I thought he was dead, i felt worried, then a jogger came along, i waved him down, and he took a look, said the guy was breathing, but we could not stir him. He told me to ring the police when i got home. I came home, my daughter came back to the guy with me, to see if we could stir him, no response. I phoned the hospital, they adviced i ring 999. As i was about to do this, the guy suddenly looked up, told us to leave him alone. I asked if he was okay, he said, just go and leave me alone. He looked cold. I have been told by family, he will be okay, as he spoke to you, leave him be. I feel a bit bad leaving him there, but i guess he was okay. What would you have done?

What I mean is that.. most people automatically think that ALL gay people are HUGE fashion freaks... I asmit.. I am one.. but I just think that people are in a way really stereotypical about everything. I WANT to be more of a fashion freak, because I love it, but how do I get started, what should I do.. etc? Please help..

I feel like some type of Nazi America is on the horizon. We don't protect our constitution, we lie to our citizens, we spy on our citizens, we bully other countries and steal from them... and we murder. Anyone else feel disillusioned?

Allah, how come you forgot where sperm comes from? Most 6th grade bio students know this, and you forgot Allah? Listen Allah, sperm, or anything capable of creating humans doesnt come from between the backbone and ribs.

Sperm comes from the testes then sent to the vas derens where nutirents are added and it becomes sperm. This all occurs in the pelvic region, you know, where the penis is Allah? Right around there Allah.

Oh, and Allah... why did you send a man who lead 26 battles of war, married a child of 9, and owned slaves to be our eternal and final example of conduct?

There isn't one thing we as a country do better than any other country except build massive corporations that force continuity in every city all in the name of capitalism. Well, plus we make great movies. But seriously we don't make the best cars or electronics anymore, we don't pay the best wages to our employees. We have no mandatory pay for maternity leave (we are one of only four nations that don't). We have the option between overpriced, substandard or no health insurance. Our pharmeceutical companies charge hundreds of dollars for life dependent drugs. We have the worst crime rate of any first world nation. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE America and I like living here, but I've not disillusioned myself. Switzerland (for example) may be more expensive but I think I'd likely have a healthier, safer life if I lived there.

I know this is not the case for all people, but there is a special brand of religion where people seem to believe scriptures, tradition and so forth, have everything to do with how things are in the world, and little to do with contact with a higher reality.
In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the ideas of the Church were permeated with mystery, mysticism, prayer, personal connexions to the divine and medieval theologians understood much of religion depended on symbolism to be understood.
Today, people seem to worry about things like how many years has the world existed? How long was the Ark? They also seem to expect very concrete things to happen, like the rapture and read religious texts extremelly literarly, with apparently no care or heed for metaphors and symbols. Has something been lost in our culture that we can no longer approach spiritual ideas with any depth? Are we stuck, as a culture, in a child's spirituality? Why?

As a little kid, when my sisters & I would go skating on the pond, I would pretend to be a professional figure skater. As I grew older, I wanted to be an Astronomer. Then, in my early teens, I wanted to become a rock journalist or professional photographer and follow rock bands such as Van Halen and Bon Jovi. In my teens, I wanted to work in a big corporate office in NYC or some other big city. Then, I wanted to join Green Peace and protest against polluters. (*mind you, none of these worked out for me.....)

felt like it was their duty to see the passion multiple times. My dad is a tightwad who gets on my back about going to the dollar show. Yet he went and saw the passion three times. Why did so many people feel that it was their duty to see the film? Did mel gibson give any money to the catholic church.

I am not attacking the church. I am simply asking a question, a distinction similar to dan brown writing the Da Vinci code and then stating that it was a work of fiction!!! He did not say it was fact or an attempt to defame Catholocism; yet Catholics srill protested it. So do not pretend I am attacking Jesus or anything related to him. I am simply asking if Mel gave authorities money to influence clergy to see the film. I am not making a judgement about this even if he did. That being said, I am sure a few people will still attack me for no logical reason. Thank you.
