I watching a show about Nostradomus and there was a part that said he latinsed his name as "Michel De Nostradomus(sp?)". I've heard it before in Everafter, the movie with DrewBarrymore, her character claims her name is "Michel De something or another". Does it have a particular meaning(family, occupation, appearance) or is it just a common name from that time? I was just curious thank you.

call it the yin and yang if you like, or homeostasis, or just plain old balance.

can you give me examples from religions you know or belong to of the importance of the balance of good and evil?

i just read The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula LeGuin and now I am interested in this subject today.

i'm interested in scientific or other studies on collective consciousness.

also religions/beliefs that emphasize unity, oneness, brotherhood/sisterhood, etc.

give me any random thoughts at all, or links if you got 'em.

think about it. a morale theist has been morale because they have been binded to religious laws. a moral atheist has been so under there own free will. but because the theist belived in 'god', it puts him/her and the atheist on equal footing (?)

isnt it better the do good things anyway, than to do it because of eing ordered to do it?

According to a reliable history book, Angel Gabriel appeared to Mohamed to bring new faith in his country. Angel Gabriel is an angel of the Christian God and so if it was the Christian God who ordered angel Gabriel to teach Mohamed the religion he taught about, it means that Christians and Muslims are actually brothers and sisters under One the same God. Maybe this is a probable reason why Muslims rebuke Christians of believing that Jesus is a God compared to their Mohammed who happened to be a prophet for them. If all these are true, then there's no point in proving who has generally the better religion since we have the same necessary beliefs and One God anyway. And don't you think it is admirable how God tried to reach the whole world just to let us know that He is there for us?

Why do Muslims get the blame for the actions of a handfull of strayed people when America and the "West" in general has caused more Wars for its convenience... for Power or oil??

Muslims are not so narrow minded as to blame Christians or Catholics!!!

I'm a Christian.. and I believe in all the things that a good Christian was taught to believe.. BUT, is it wrong for me to also believe that people of other faiths are going to heaven (or whatever good place their faith allows)? I mean, in the end.. every religion in the world has a god, and in the end, every religion preaches the same things.. don't kill, don't adulter... blah blah blah.. SO.. is it wrong for me to think that we're ALL going to go to the same place when we die.. and that there are MANY religions that are going to get you to that good place??

Interesting article I came across... see point 12.
http://www.bible.ca/islam/islam-myths-fastest-growing.htm

Muslims lie when they tell you they are the fastest growing (1.56) religion in North America. From Table 1-4, we can see that they are no better than 5th place in growth behind: Atheists (3.51), Hindus (3.13), Sikhs (2.81), Buddhists (2.75), Baha’is (2.25). We tire of the lies and myth making of Islamic spin doctors.

Is anyone suprised at this?

I'm a Catholic, and some Jehova's Witness people came to my door yesterday. They were telling me that the only religion that will get me in to heaven is their religion and that all other religions are false and harmful to follow. I want to know why they think my religion, that dates back to the time of Jesus is harmful and false, but their religion.. begun by one person in 1914 is the only religion that will get me to heaven..
