I kinda figured the University of Hawaii would be good but I've heard some bad things about professors and the school being horribly underfunded. I considered Temple University's branch campus in Japan but they don't offer a Japanese language major. Just Asian Studies major and Japanese minor/certificate. I graduated HS in 2001 and I'm currently not in school, I work full time in retail *groan*. Also, I don't have any outstanding merits or anything that would win me great recognition (graduated HS with a 2.8).

In your faith, Jesus died for the sins of humanity. But you also say Jesus is God. If God wanted to forgive humanity, couldn't he just forgive humanity instead of putting on a suit and getting nailed to a wooden T? I mean, really! He's God! Why does God need to kill himself to forgive us? Can't he just forgive us? Was this a publicity stunt? Was he making a point?

Another thing: In creation "theory" *scoff*, why did God create the world in six days? Wouldn't it be more logical to just create it instantly?

Why did he need to rest on the seventh? He's God, God doesn't rest.

Why did he even MAKE the tree of knowledge? What was the point? I mean, he's God, he should be able to tell that the two nudies down there would try and eat off of it out of curiosity!

And what about the flood? If God is God, why didn't he just cleanse the earth himself? Why does he need lots of water and a wooden boat?

It seems to me as if God could have thought things through a little better.

on? Are you a Christian and believe that Jesus was more special than everyone else in every way or do you think he was exceptionally good in some ways and untactful in others? Do most people even think about this or do they blindly promote people that are in their organizations because of social ties, tickets punched and the like with regards to common creed without even thinking about it?

How do you infidels say the Bible is wrong when the bible says that the bible's right? If the bible says that the bible is right than the bible must be right because the bible says that the bible is right and the bible is right because it says that it's right. Therefore the Bible is right.

Recently one of my Hindu friends decided to become a vegetarian. When she told me, I asked her, is this a decision you are making based on religious belief? And she said, it's not so much a religious reason, it's more of a spiritual thing. What did she mean by this?

Since it's generaly accepted by most 'realistic' thinkers that the Earth was formed 3 BILLION years ago - that the dinosours died out around 65 MILLION years ago - that the human race began about 10,000 YEARS ago and that every writing and idea within the bible originates between TWO THOUSAND years ago and the present day - isn't it reasonable to assume that the Bible has little to do with TRUE history, but is more likely to be the result of early thinkers begining to ask questions about the universe around them, in the same way that the world was believed to be flat?.... In the same way that the Sun was believed to orbit the Earth? .... the same way that the ancient Greeks believed that thunder bolts were a sign of anger from the Gods?.... Arn't all these things simply attempts to explain the mysteries of the time?.... Isn't it sad that even though some questions remain unanswered to the present day .... that many people feel the need to explain the unexplainable with pure fantacy?

Genesis 11:6 The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this (i.e. build the tower of Babel), then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

it doesn't even say that what they were doing was bad! just that god didn't want man to be capabe of doing very much.

The word "Belief" is certainly an odd duck. The scientist seeks proof, while the non scientist seeks belief. I find it empowering to say "I believe this or that", as though I can create reality just by saying the word, therefore bypassing all of the dull fact finding and analysis of the scientist. Consider the following: BELIEF may or may not imply certitude in the believer (my belief that I had caught all the errors). FAITH almost always implies certitude even where there is no evidence or proof (an unshakable faith in God). --Webster's online

I'm not saying it's not.

But my question is this: Why is it that when I ask people what has convinced them that it is 100% inspired by God (because I would really like to know...not just trying to be argumentative), they quote a Bible verse that says that all scriptures are inspired by God. Isn't that begging the question just a bit? Seems kind of like saying "I know John is telling the truth because he says he's telling the truth."

Also, is there anything that has convinced you that it is definitely devine-inspired? Honestly.

I placed a 1/2 cup of butter in the microwave, along with some bluefin tuna scales. I microwaved them on high for 30 seconds. And the result: the scales didn't become a conscious human. And the butter didn't morph into a Lexus SUV. See? It easily disproves all of science!
