I'm always surprised when Christians know the exact number of times they pray each day, or can't remember the last time they prayed. Some will say they pray every morning and right before bed. Or they pray before eating, or at church.

I can't speak for others, but if I can count the number of times I'm praying, or if I'm praying on a schedule, I'm not praying enough. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says we should pray constantly. Prayer gives us peace, increases our power through Christ, and draws us closer to God. It also keeps our thoughts focused and pure. The devil never rests, so there is always time for prayer. Question: Can you immediately tell the difference when you miss an hour, a day, or a week of praying? How did it make you feel?

Ok, as I walking, Jehovah's Witnesses are always passing out pamphlet. I said no, thank you politley. When I'm at home, some christians come by to recruit me into their religion. I said, no thanks, I'm Taoist. Apparently, they DID NOT want to hear that and TRIED TO TAKE ME AWAY FROM MY RELIGION! They were like "forget taoism, god is the path of all life. Your religion is heathen!". I mean what the hell is that?! One of my Muslim friends told me that the same thing happened to him. If I'm happy in a religion, why would THOSE christians attempt to imperialize me with their religion? I'm a taoist and that's plain and simple. WHY CAN'T THE RECRUITERS TAKE NO FOR A ANSWER?

There is this common stereotype seen here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av0FrgAYwxeCUt0ZhkgEhBkjzKIX?qid=1006052216618 that when popular kids get older, they somehow become fat, less succesful, and less well liked. Well, I am almost at my 10 year high school reuinion and it has become obvious this is untrue. The people who were popular 10 years ago all have good jobs, are almost all married or engaged, and are all pretty happy. The unpopular kids are still lacking in confidence, shy, insecure, and a few are on anti-depressants. I knew kids from both sides of the fence in high school fairly well since I was "in the middle" basically.

So, do peple just *want* to believe that the popular kids lose in the end? Or, is my high school just unique? It is proven that good looks, confidence, and charisma (which makes people popular) also helps with career success... so why would popular kids suddenly do worse after HS? (PS. Drug addicts are another story... )

lately i've been having these urges to give some guy a b-l-o-w-j-o-b. and the only person i would feel the littlest bit comfortable doing it to would be my friend. him and i were talking one night about porn and the subject of gay porn was brought up and i got around to what he would do if a guy wanted to give him a b-l-o-w-j-o-b but wanted one in return and he told me he would do anything once. well we got around to basically setting up a day that we were going to give each other b-l-o-w-j-o-b-s. but then the day that it was going to happen on i started getting second thoughts and called it off. but is till have the urge to give him one. i know he would be alright with it and i would probably get one in return. so should i just get it over with and give him a b-l-o-w-j-o-b to see what its like or what? any advice would be appreciated but no smart asses please. thanks

Ok, I've stayed out of this section for months now...figure I would just pop in to say hello to all of you.

Here is my real question: why do religious folks "down-thumb" everyone that doesn't agree with their point of view, or "belief"?

Just for fun, I clicked on a "religious" question (it was simply: are you religious?), and after I saw that somebody had down-thumbed all the non-believers, I went through and did the same with the believers.

You know what? I was expecting some sort of evil satisfaction. Well, there wasn't any satisfaction. It just wasn't enjoyable.

So if you down-thumb people that don't agree with you on a regular basis, do you feel some small sense of self-worth? Just curious. If so, I think you really need some counseling, or anger management classes!

And if you can't understand sarcasm, that whole thing on counseling was sarcasm!

Okay, I was raised as a christian. But I lost my faith when I reached highschool and declared myself as agnostic until I was 18. During those years my parents got divorced and my mother remarried. When I became agnostic my mother and stepfather agreed with my beliefs and followed the faithless path. A year after graduation I re-dedicated my life to Christ. There is no question I havent had answered and my faith has returned. I have given myself completely to God. The only problem I have yet to face is my parents. They are very negative about religion and when someone says they are religous my family will call them "stupid", "brainwashed", or "misguided". The thing is I completely understand and can relate to this type of thinking although I no longer feel that way. I have to lie about where I am going when I go to church, and this whole thing is killing me. Ive prayed to God about it but I dont know when the right time is to tell them about my faith. I cant live in secrecy anymore

Why are some black men jealous of black women's accomplishments and accuse her of being a sellout? Some brothers will even go as far as to say sisters didn't work damn hard to get where they are and that the white man just handed them these opportunities? A lot of black men complain that black women are gold diggers when sisters are often times more successful and more likely to graduate college then black men? A lot of black men like to blame black women saying they don't need them and are too independent when it was their unreliablity and inability to support the family that made her so career focused in the first place?

I would have said race but people were going to say there is only one race...the human race. That rhetoric is not what I am looking for.

Genesis 6:9
Noah was a just man and perfect....

Psalm 37:12
The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

Proverbs :33
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

Proverbs 4:18
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Proverbs 9:9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Why is it that if one asks, let's say a Lutheran, what his faith is, he will respond to you, " I'm christian." An evangelical will most likely do the same thing. However, I have noticed this with a lot of catholics. If one were to ask the same question to a catholic, he would respond, "I'm catholic." Catholics are christians too. Why are a lot of cathlocs so specific?

Has anyone who does not believe there is a god find this bothersome? It happened to me and a friend on the train the other day, where the woman said 'god works in wonderous way'. Neither one of us believe in god and follow our own faith. But it was really weird that some stranger would just assume. Its even seen on Yahoo answeres where most people answer with "because god..."

Jesus is not the holy spirit. Jesus is god. The holy spirit is god. Shouldn't it then follow that Jesus is the holy spirit? If A is C and B is C, then A is B. It could be modified that Jesus and the holy spirit are parts of god, or that Jesus is a god and the holy spirit is another god, but it has always been taught that Jesus is god and the holy spirit is god. How is this not contradictory?
