If god was perfect He knew all the answers, all the questions, and all THE CHOICES..ppl say we are given a choice 2 choose between right and wrong, but if god already knew what we were going to choose what would be the point? Choices would ultimately be an illusion. If thats the case life is predestined, and we to were predestined to go to heaven, or to hell before we were born. Dont you agree? If you dont agree then you would agree that god is not perfect wouldn't you? I'm not an athiest I'm more of a spritual freethinker, and ive been wondering if the good book made any sense to you. Kowing that if god is perfect then predestiny is the reality.. I need answers , and b-cuz god is all knowing will not cut it! Or that god made it that way.. I need answers. If god is perfect then life is predestined, because he is perfect and knows everything! If however he is not perfect, then we would ultimately have a choice between heaven or hell? Am i right or wrong? if wrong i need an answer!!

She has a hard time wrapping her head around my atheism so I pointed out that I only believe in 1 less god than she does.

She didn't find that funny.

So I asked her why she is a Christian. Why out of all of the religions is she a Christian after having somewhat studied the others.

Her answer: Because she was raised that way.

Is that the main reason Christians are Christians?

Do people become Christians because it is the society's norm?

My belief when I came to Questions and answers was that you could come here to get a question that you have answered or help someone to answer theirs... I am a Christian woman who, though I believe totally in God as my Father in Heaven, still has questions regarding life issues as they may relate to my beliefs or have my own opinions that may help someone who is looking for answers..
I can not believe all the hate and name calling that goes on in the Religion and Spirituality. Why?? Open debate on any issue is fine, but debate does not include name calling and stupid questions that just beg for a hateful comment..
I would consider this section a place for someone who has a serious question about a Bible verse or God, Jesus, or something pertaining to their beliefs.. I would not have expected it to be a place to convict others for their beliefs.. If you want debate..why not ask someone why they believe what they do and then maybe share why you believe what you do.. Why be hateful??

Okay, the bible says that sodomy is wrong, not homosexuality. In my opinion, size, shape, color, and orientation shouldn't matter. You should be with the person you love. I mean, if your husband or wife was the same sex as you, wouldn't you still love them?

My mother asked me yesterday when I will be old enough to stop giving me a gift on Chanukah (I am 38). To me, it's not the gift, but the gesture. I'd be happy with the box of candles and little note she includes each year. I wouldn't be upset if Mom stopped gifting my brother and I, since we are both married adults. But, I still wonder what other people think.

I was just wondering if you all noticed the false pretenses that are repeated over and over in here. Wasn't it Hitler who said that, If you say it loud enough and long enough, people will start to believe it?

"How can you believe something not based on fact?
Notice the pretense is that our faith is not based on fact.

"How can you believe in a God with no proof?"
Pretense..."proof" is what is required to believe in God and not evidence which is not something science deals with. It is an interpretation of "evidence" not proof. And if "evidence" is what they really mean, that there is none to stand on in believing in a creator God.

I see this over and over from more of the RABID atheists. Not all of them are like that, but for the ones that are...why not just deal with the truth. Points to an agenda of not really being open to a real discussion but to evangelize and cause strife.

Just curious if anyone else noticed a common theme.
