of this prayer?

LUKE 11

2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3Give us day by day our daily bread.

4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Wouldn't it have behooved him to write down everything he wanted people to learn and follow, rather than leaving it to the secondhand retelling and interpretation of others?

Some times you get gifts from co-workers or friends a week or so before Christmas day. Do you open them right then and there, or do you put them under the tree and wait? If the gift-giver is there, is it polite to ask? I'm always torn on how to handle such situations...

My boyfriend and I were having a discussion about gift giving and he stated that he felt it was fine for a female friend (whom we both know and like - this isn't a jealousy issue!) to give him a leather jacket or bottle of expensive cologne for Christmas. I feel this is weird as these arent gifts that "friends" exchange (all the other gifts exchanged are in the $15-$20 range).
He also felt it was fine for another man to purchase items like this for me - including jewelery - as long as it wasn't a ring or necklace.
If a male friend bought me a gold bracelet I would feel weird and uncomfortable.
When would you feel a gift given to your Boyfriend/Girlfriend had crossed over from being generous to inappropriate?

21 Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. 22 The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.

23 The LORD said to her,
"Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you will be separated;
one people will be stronger than the other,
and the older will serve the younger."

24 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. 25 The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. 26 After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.

All religions have some form of tolerance clause built in and no religion that I know of says you must ACCEPT anyone else's religion.
For Christians, there's quite a few: Judge not, lest ye be judged; Pride cometh before the Fall; the story of Job, etc.

I'm not slamming Christians, just using Christianity as an example.
Why is it that people with dogmatic faith insist that if others do not ACCEPT their brand of Theology, they are doomed. Aren't they making a judgment if they say that? For example: If your God is so merciful and forgiving, where in your holy book does it say you have the right to make judgment for Him? My point is: If your God is Your Light and Your Salvation, then why don't you speak of Him that way? How would Christians feel if someone tried to convince you that your Faith is false. Some people are very good at this and frankly it's not nice. People should stop trying to convince others their faith is wrong and work on proving their faith is right.

In the past, we've had a "White Elephant" (a.k.a. "Poor Man's Gift Exchange), but I'm looking to do something different this year. I need a game that is kid-friendly but will also be really fun for the adults. Any ideas?

Today in the US, old role models are being replaced with the new generation of what is "hip." People like Britney Spears, and Tara Conner are given more publicity when they are out doing drugs in clubs and doing other things that may be innappropriate from the society's point of view. However, it is becoming clear today that many girls are following in their footsteps, even though they may not look up to them. Many boys are adopting the "bad boy" personality as the way to being accepted, and joining the higher rank. It is clear that the society is changing. Where do you think this is headed (how will it affect our society)? And ultimately, do you think this is good for America?

"More than nine out of 10 Americans, men and women alike, have had premarital sex, according to a new study. The high rates extend even to women born in the 1940s, challenging perceptions that people were more chaste in the past....

The study, examining how sexual behavior before marriage has changed over time, was based on interviews conducted with more than 38,000 people — about 33,000 of them women — in 1982, 1988, 1995 and 2002 for the federal National Survey of Family Growth. According to Finer's analysis, 99 percent of the respondents had had sex by age 44, and 95 percent had done so before marriage."

For example, I was voting on several questions that were clearly from askers in the UK. The replies were given an American bent "that is what America is like" etc.

Is it too much for Americans out there to realise there are people who post questions in English who aren't American?
