He did, he relly did. The whale ate him just for the halibut.

After being thrown overboard which was decided by the crewmen "casting lots" (rolling the bones or dice), Jonah survived in the ocean for three days by treading water. Due to exhaustion, Jonah became hallucinogenic and imagined that he was swallowed by a big fish upon which he prayed and was then spat out. Hallucination via exhaustion is lucid and unless the victim knows about this medical condition, he will likely believe that it actually took place.

Jonah was indeed trapped in the bowels of a whale for 3 days. I believe he subsisted on the contents of the great beast's large intestine.

You're question is almost as amusing as the religious kook responses you're getting.

I'd like to extend this question a bit. Was there someone actually witness to document Jonah's stay inside the "large fish", or does the bible simply rely on Jonah's word or account?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that a whale's thoat is too small to swallow a person whole. So probably not. I doubt fish throats are much bigger. Even corpses revovered from sharks' bellies are usually pretty mangled.

But if he did, it probably felt like a couple of apartments I lived in in university. Only cleaner.

If that's not a dead giveaway that the bible is a bunch of goose splatter, I don't know what is.

The fact that people in this day and age actually believe such a thing happened is frightening.

But... my genetically engineered intellect will allow us to survive.

How did you figure out how to spell Jonah, but can't spell really? Amazing.

Well, we don't exactly know what kind of "sea creature" it was. The Bible says a giant fish. Whales aren't fish.
However, we we give a wee bit of ground on that, the ancients might have called a large whale a "big fish."
And I dont have any problem believing that, because I believe in the Supreme Being who is quite capable of such.
Merry Christmas, and I hope you find something to believe in while there's time!
