put them in teams,,, then have a phrase or saying, and let them see how many individual words they can make from the letters of that saying,,, give a prize to first and second place perhaps,,, sayings like
Merry Christmas (example= mast, is ,, time,, etc)
We wish you a merry Christmas,,,,
Happy Holidays
Peace on earth to all Gods Children
etc
they can use the capital letters as lower case,
you could make your teams based on age, or mixed ages,,, gender,, etc,,,, i would put no more then 2 or 3 to a team,,,,,

Shut The Box is a good one. It's a dice game and doesn't have a limit on players (very kid friendly, could even be used as a learning tool). Basically you have 5 or 6 dice with wodden chips in the box with numbers 1-9. And you have to roll the dice and for example. if you roll 13 then you could flip over a 6.4, and 3 cause that equals 13 you keep going until you can't flip anymore over and you write down your score on a pad, but whoever flips them all over automatically wins. Or you could make it where you play 10 games and the one with the lowest score wins. (To score you have count all the remaining wodden chips that weren't turned over. It's very easy! It could aslo be a good drinking game too for later on when the kids are fast a sleep. You could also play this guitar game on x-box if you happen to have it. It's made us all laugh last year. All the adults at the party had a blast with it. I forget what it's called though. I'm sure your local video game store would know what it's called.

If you are looking for a gift game: have everyone bring a board game for an exchange. Children bring one for another child and adults bring them for adults. Once they are opened you can play!!

My favorite party game is called "Curses". Now before you freak out it has nothing to do with cursing or swearing in any way it's a card game. You have challenge cards and curse cards after you complete a challenge card you draw a curse card and give it to any one you choose. Whom ever you gave the card to then has to perform that curse through out the rest of the game (ex. talk like a pirate). Every time I have played this game we end up laughing hysterically and it's PG enough for all ages.

We do a bunch of different things:
- Stocking exchange: instead of gifts, you get a little stocking full of stocking stuffers, then everyone exchanges that.
- Poker: you can play with chips, toys, cookies, all kinds of variations
- Balloon Volleball: this one can get violent. Be wary of former high school football players :)
- Make candy: you can get cheap molds and melting wafers and make chocolate covered cherries or lollipops, etc.

My family LOVES the board game "Loaded Questions." Even my 6 year old niece played. We would just re-word the question so she could understand. We had so many people playing we ran out of playing pieces. We had people represented by different candies, toys, etc. It was a blast!

Do an impromptu talent show where you write down a bunch of talents on slips of paper (ballet, piano, sing, oragami, stand up comedy, etc.) and have people draw a talent and then perform it to the best of their abilities.
