My belief when I came to Questions and answers was that you could come here to get a question that you have answered or help someone to answer theirs... I am a Christian woman who, though I believe totally in God as my Father in Heaven, still has questions regarding life issues as they may relate to my beliefs or have my own opinions that may help someone who is looking for answers..
I can not believe all the hate and name calling that goes on in the Religion and Spirituality. Why?? Open debate on any issue is fine, but debate does not include name calling and stupid questions that just beg for a hateful comment..
I would consider this section a place for someone who has a serious question about a Bible verse or God, Jesus, or something pertaining to their beliefs.. I would not have expected it to be a place to convict others for their beliefs.. If you want debate..why not ask someone why they believe what they do and then maybe share why you believe what you do.. Why be hateful??

Sho-nuff..if you look closely at the question, I state questions about the Bible, God, Jesus or ANY QUESTIONS THAT ONE MAY HAVE ABOUT THEIR BELIEFS... Antheism is a belief held by some, just as Christianity or any other, and there is no reason not to ask a question regarding such, but why bash others who don't hold that same belief.. I included ALL in my question..
I think it was a fair question.. I was not preaching or cramming my belief down anyone's throat..

Not that anyone cares..but I do already attend a Bible Study and I attend church regularly..but as I said, I know there are ppl in here that DO ask questions about things that I may be able to help also.. I do like to be able to help someone if I can.. I am also human, so I do still have things to learn, none of us has all the answers to life..There is always more to learn..in ANY aspect of our lives

People on here are not reading what you have posted very well, are they. They think you're only speaking of christianity, however, if they would read closer-you wrote "something pertaining to their beliefs". That's the problem for some of the christian and the non-christians on here. They read only what they want too. That's from hatred. They are just so ready to condemn. It's really bad to see a christian do it. Perhaps that's the problem too. Too many christians are just picking and choosing the verses in the bible, instead of reading it thoroughly. The other religions, and atheists are hateful because so many christians on here have told them they were stupid and are going to hell. Seems like to me, we need more christians on here that promote love, and show everyone the true Jesus-and that will spread love like wildfire.God bless you!

Unfortunately, it's probably a necessary part of the nature of religious belief. Religions persist because they attract and retain adherents. That means that they have to have systems for discouraging defections and for making adherents believe that it is important that they and their children remain in the faith. That means that a truly tolerant religion simply won't survive in the long run.

On top of that, you've surely noticed that politicians have recognized that they can turn that loyalty and intolerance to their advantage. In the United States, Christianity is in danger of becoming nothing more than a recruiting tool of the Republican Party. True, that danger seems less today than it was a year ago, and I think that we might be moving in the right direction, but it has been the case for long enough that many Christians believe they're doing good when they attack America's stance on such things as abortion, homosexuality, separation of church and state, tax policy, and foreign policy.

Be encouraged my sister in Christ. It is for this very reason that our Father in heaven expects us to demonstrate an excellence of character that far exceeds what is revealed in this world. The contrast between lovingkindness and hatred exposes the weakness and wickedness of many false philosophies.

I received an email from someone here in Yahoo for no reason telling me that I was not a Christian and that I had not read the Bible. I think they were claiming to be a Christian.

The greatest evidence of nobiility in a Christian is self-control.

Genuine Christlikeness of character is antagonistic to the human nature unchanged by the grace of God.

Those who attack the beliefs of others with words through insult or ridicule, demonstrate clearly for all to see, the value of their way of thinking.

Whether belief, unbelief or no belief - it is the persecutor that is always wrong.

How has the King, our Lord and Saviour, admonished us to relate to these souls ?

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

We need to remember what God has revealed about human nature and then practice being wise as serpents but as harmless as doves.

As with anything else in life, you must work to find the truth you seek. There are some very thoughtful questions that appear from time to time, just as there are some well thought out answers and opinions here too, and they come from all beliefs. Yes, there are a lot of people that seem to come here just to harass others but isn't that true of life. It might be more so here but that is because this type of forum affords people a certain amount of room to spread that type of venom with impunity.

You know, I completely agree.
In fact, i asked a similar question myself here not so long ago. you just get extremes from both sides clashing off each other, and creating havoc where there should be serious, friendly questions, answers and debates.
i mean, after all, doesn't religion generally teach love and tolerance for you're fellow man/woman?
Last time i heard, the commandment 'love your neighbor as you love yourself' didn't contain any exceptions to this command.
I think the best thing to do is just ignore those who are trying to make trouble.

Termite, Yahoo Answers has participants from every conceivable background, religion, race, and political party. Everyone has an agenda, opinion, and many just copy and paste an answer. For you to find answers, become a part of a Bible Study group in a local, Bible-believing church in your community. There, face to face, you can find a serious group of disciples who address the issues you have. You don't have to join their church to join their search. Don't rely on this "forum" for that.

Yes we can all discuss issues in a decent way because it is not the job of a Christian to convict someone to be a Christian. This is entirely the work of the Holy Spirit. The duty of a Christian is to share his belief without forcing it into the throat of another. Afterall God is a perfect gentleman He would not force Himself on anyone. So Christians should not force. And this is God's way.

Religious debate always gets people a little crazy. If you just want questions answered about your religion without a bunch of points of view, you might try your pastor since he has actually spent a great deal of time studying it. Or join a Bible study group.

If you are going to take it personally, you really don't want to hang out here. People are going to be brutal and that is just a simple fact.

If you don't get the type of answer you are looking for, sometimes you can contact people directly who you feel might be able to help you. Keep in mind you are posting questions to a whole host of different types of people. Believers make up a small percentage of the world.

I agree with you, but when you spend sometime on here, you just get used it. If we all listend to each others views and had a proper debate that would be sensible and more productive. However if you know anything about the internet it's main purpose is to reach a more people so you can b*tch and moan about something you don't like.
