Dutch woman who rescued at least 30,000 Jews from the Nazi gas chambers

Just got into a heated discussion about Native American rights. Is it true that they don't pay taxes, get free education in state universities, make their own laws (they can operate casinos when average people are regulated) on the land they live on (reservations)? And if that's the case, is that really fair to the rest of us? Isn't there some kind of discrimination going on here? My friend says the fact that the Seminole tribe just bought the Hard Rock Cafe business for a billion dollars shows that something is wrong. Here are tribal leaders amassing tons of money to make more money while they keep their people in poverty so they can hold up the poor downtrodden Native American and try to make everybody feel sorry for them. He says it's like a third world dictatorship. I had to concede that something isn't right. What do you think?

How are the stores I described in my last question any differant from stores that only recognize Christmas?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061209092802AAvWWiz&r=w

Some of you said that you would not shop in a store that only recognized Hanukkah or Yule, but you almost demand that stores ONLY recognize Christmas.

How is this fair?

I got one that read, "You are politically independent." I taped it to my notebook because it was so . . . different from any other one I'd read. That was about seven years ago.

This year, I re-registered, changing my political party from Democrat to Independent. Spooky or self-fulfilling prophecy?

them, and they follow me. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (John 10:26-28). Do you hear the voice of the Good Shepherd? One can be "religious" but that does not mean that your sins have been paid for. Many people go to church but church membership does not make you saved. In fact, Revelation 18:4 tells the sheep to leave the churches which have become Babylon. Jesus also said, "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." God is not speaking of "physical ears" because everyone has ears. The Lord is speaking of "spiritual ears", which He has given to those who are born again or redeemed. They hear the Lord and obey His commandments.

I have many friends who hate cigarettes but still buy cocaine or even smoke marijana. They will insult those who smoke cigs while doing far worse drugs. I know people who drink coffee at sporting events because they don't want to seem like idiots because only " idiots" drink beer at sporting events(WTF) New york is banning transfat....In Ohio you can't smoke anywhere........What's with the health fascist?

Where are these people at when kids are starving in Africa or wars are fought anywhere??? I guess making plans to keep america safe by........making it smoke free...but certainly not coca free.......Hypocritical world!!!!!

I believe in one god but I can not find any reason to confine myself to a religion. in other hand, religions cause wars and conflicts among people and it is the worst part of the story.
Now, my question is this:
Why one should dedicate himself to a religion?

Is it open-minded to evaluate someone based on preconceived ideas or personal stereotypes based on experience, or is it narrow-minded? Is it open-minded to try to keep your personal perceptions in check as you evaluate someone, or is it narrow-minded and naive? The reason for this question is that I witnessed an interview (OK, I eavesdropped) in a restaurant yesterday where a young woman was talking to an older gentleman not of her same ethnic group. She hardly gave him any opportunities to talk, and jumped in and asked other questions before he had a chance to adequately respond. It seemed as though she had made up her mind about him not being a good candidate for whatever position she was interviewing for before he even had a chance to speak. When I related this story to my husband he said that I was the one who was being narrow minded and that the interviewer had it right on the money. Thoughts?
