I've noticed that when I go to certain grocery stores with my wife (I'm black and she's hispanic), particularly stores that mostly either black people shop at, or hispanic people go to, we get nothing be weird stares like we did something wrong. Some times people look at use like we just robbed a bank. And it never fails that usually the only people who are friendly to us are light skinned black women.

When we buy our food at the register, most black girls won't even look me in the eye, and they treat my wife like she doesn't even exist. No, "how are you", or "have a nice day", nothing. Even if we're polite, we get no response most of the time. The same goes in stores that mostly hispanics work at and go to.

When it's a white grocery store, most people are kind, polite, and helpful. I get the feeling if I was married to a white girl, I'd probably get the cold shoulder at those stores instead.

Any one else go through discrimination at stores? And how do you deal with it?

I am not a prejudice person but I am concerned with what is happening within the african american community. I see successful doctors, lawyers, white collar and hard working blue collar african american people...but I also see that our prisons are predominatly filled with african american men and women who have committed horrible crimes against people. What aren't we as americans and our government doing that we should be doing to help the middle and lower class african americans to succeed. I realize that prejudice does exist but is it the fact that I am not prejudice allowing me to be distorted to the truth of what's really happening? Is it parenting, society, both or a genetic thing that needs to be overcome where some do and some don't? I'm baffled and would love to live in a country where it wasn't this way. I am 28 and white and don't want to be held accountable for what my ancestors did since I never would have taken part in it and don't want to live in fear of a race either.

That question about why atheists are so hopeless got me thinking.
Before I start I know not all people of any faith do this but the few give the rest a bad name. So forgive me if I generalise

Reading through this board and others like it you find people throwing insults and bashing everyones elses faiths for being different. Why is it that only group of people who dont do this are Pagans? I have yet to find a response or question where a Pagan is insulting someone or telling them they will be punished for believing something different!
Everyone should have morals regardless of belief, and those that are religious are supposed to be peaceful so why cant it work like that? What do people get out of being so insulting and narrow minded? Again I know this doesnt include everyone!!!

It just seems strange that Paganism is thought of as being evil (by Christians especially- again not all of them) that it is them who get along the most peacefully, from what you see here anyway

Christians say that this term comes from the book of Daniel, which Jesus quoted often. But In my Bible that term is not to be found in the book of Daniel!

The only book, outside the new testament, is the book of Enoch that contains this term quite often. Again why are the church and the Jews afraid of this book?This book was once part of the Jewish scriptures and of the christian canon.

He gives us freedom of choice but punishes us when we make the wrong decision [choice of religion]. We only go to heaven if we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins. But if we have never even heard of "God" or Jesus we go to hell. Even if we are good people and dedicate our lives to helping other people we will go to hell if we don't beleive in Christianity. I don't understand this type of mercy.

I am sick of these rich actors with way too much free time jetting all over the world and trying to shame us somehow. The average person is not heartless - but we are also not millionaires either. Our last 4 weeks of work didn't net us 20 million.
They seem to be self obsessed - it really doesn't seem to being doing anyone any good at all. Why don't they just give their causes their own money? They have it after all - the working folks don't.

The burka would be fine if the males had some restrictions as well on what they(males) expose.
Why is it only women are to cover up ? we humans were born naked (Not that we should be naked) why is it that a woman should be ashamed of her self OR raised to believe she is to be hidden ? ....Now if anyone says that men are going to look at her sexually ..... I think that a country that suppress half there society and makes them invisible makes people(men) more savage.And not use to looking at the other half of the human species(women).....That is what you get..... 2 or 3 yrs ago . . . i saw a figure . . . she... because she was wearin a dress . . . an a hat . . . i cant see her face . . . it was so dark then . . . she passed by my room but i jusr didnt react . . . until . . . she went vack and stick her head out!!!!... it was so alarming that i screamed!!!!.... there was no one in the house except 4 my family . .. my mom, da, sis and bro . . . it was late at night thats why..... i had a hard time callin 4 help.
