That question about why atheists are so hopeless got me thinking.
Before I start I know not all people of any faith do this but the few give the rest a bad name. So forgive me if I generalise

Reading through this board and others like it you find people throwing insults and bashing everyones elses faiths for being different. Why is it that only group of people who dont do this are Pagans? I have yet to find a response or question where a Pagan is insulting someone or telling them they will be punished for believing something different!
Everyone should have morals regardless of belief, and those that are religious are supposed to be peaceful so why cant it work like that? What do people get out of being so insulting and narrow minded? Again I know this doesnt include everyone!!!

It just seems strange that Paganism is thought of as being evil (by Christians especially- again not all of them) that it is them who get along the most peacefully, from what you see here anyway

Yes but I'm talking about today and Christianity's history is hardly spotless, in fact not many religions have a nice background

Julia, I went well out of my way to point out I knew it wasnt the entire group of whatever faith that do it. As I said many times. But the point I was trying to make is I havent seen a single individual Pagan doin it.

So I fail to see how I was painting everyone of a different belief with the same brush, when I stated that I know not everyone does it. A lot of people from other groups are very kind and dont insult for no reason!

I think you're looking at a smaller ratio of people when you match Pagan with Christianity. It's by sheer numbers that you find more bible toters.
Then, you have the fact that Pagans take a stay low attitude for the most part. There are religions that I have just heard of mostly because the folks practicing are keeping a low profile because what they practice isn't widely accepted.
Unfortunately it does seem that some people think they can turn people by merely wearing them down. It doesn't work that way, you would think they would have figured that out by now.

Im a christian and I know alot of people will disagree with me, but my relationship with God has been about improving myself as a person so that I will not cause damage to others because of my pain or anger or whatever issues I have. If I can get through a day without causing harm to myself or another than that is a good day. To go even further if I can do that and help someone in some way then that is a great day. If I can do those two things and be helped in some way by another person then it is a glorious day. I think you ask a valid question and I agree that some christians can be very harsh. I do not claim to know what God's will is for everyone on every level, but I know that the first place he looks is in your heart, and he said that you could have the power to do amazing things, speak in the language of angels and throw your body on a fire in devotion to God, but if you have no love in your heart you are like a clanging useless noise. That all those things are for nothing. I do not judge others for having beliefs that are different from mine. Everyone has the right to follow their own drummer. I used to assalt people on the street and try to get them to come to Jesus and one day a Gentleman saw me in full swing and said something to me that I will never forget. He said "Sister....You have to catch a fish, before you can clean it" I feel that my Christianity is a journey that involves lots of levels and on each level you have a new challenge to face, first and foremost with yourself then maybe later with others. But I am a firm believer that if God apoints someone to minister to someone else, he will put something in the other persons heart so that they will recieve it. My pastor once said " God is not going to tell somebody something for you, without telling you first" I am of the opinion that anyone who can point a finger at another when deep inside they know that they have their own baggage is a hypocrite. But that person may not realize that they are a hypocrit because somewhere along the way they have been misguided. I think that is what Jesus ment by Love one another above all things. Because at the end of the day we are all flawed, we all fail each other, we all hurt other people, lie, cheat on some level etc. So to answer your question, I do not know why Pagans are so much more peaceful, but I beleive that some christians become christians to feel unburdened of their own short comings and then bag on people who have those same qualities that they hated in themselves before they where "Saved" In short I think that a relationship with God is personal and involves first and formost your own inventory, before you go checking others. If you can be cruel to a person in the name of Christ then you missed something along the way. Some people are just mixed up and they cannot help that. The only people we can control is ourselves and if everyone started there, the world would be a better place.

This is just the opinon of this Christian.

Blessings,
Christchild

One of the largest Pagan groups is the Wiccans. The take seriously a vow to harm none. So they rarely do unless it's self defense.

People who think we are evil misunderstand us. We just want to live our lives and go back to the earth.

Most pagans believe in the Law of Three or some form of Karmic Reprocussion. This means that they believe harming someone would also be harming themselves. So why put out all that effort when you can more easily shake your negative feelings and move on.

If people are stuck in a hateful mood, how much are they enjoying life. I encourage all people who think they know who Pagans are to freely ask me questions. You can contact me through my profile.

Paganism is just like Hinduism in many ways. I would rather say it is Hinduism a little changed by those far off people from mainland india, mixed with a little of their local beliefs

I once had a test on -What religion you are - and i replied to the questions as per my hindu beliefs...and the final result was - You are a Pagan !!! (though the programmer was idiot enough not to know much abt hinduism.)

Modern Paganism (or Neo-Paganism) is a very broad umbrella term for many different beliefs. Generally speaking, modern Pagans tend to very independent free thinkers and, as such, tend to respect the individual rights of others to seek out the Divine in their own way. Everyone has the right to choose their own path.

When you talk about peace I am assuming you are talking about no conflict, or fighting, or contention etc. The reason is plain, you just need a oneness of mind to have that kind of peace. When a believer walks in total harmony with God all is harmonious and there is a peace in the soul of that person. When a person rejects God and is at peace with their lifestyle, there is a peace within the soul also. Lack of peace comes when you mix the two, and you seek to live your own lifestyle, and still be religious and try to fit the moral values of God together with your sins. Then there is great conflict in your soul. Both ways give a peace, but the pagan will be at peace, and will die in his sins, and will face eternal judgment. Sometimes the conflict within is the more spiritually healthy situation.

I've noticed that too. I guess it coz a lot of Pagan religions promote acceptance of everyone no matter what differences they have. I have a lot of Pagan friends, they are the nicest people I know!!!!

While there are indeed many Christians who do not speak from the Spirit of Christ (for instance, when they are rude and insulting, etc), we also shouldn't criticize those who boldly proclaim the truth of the Gospel...even though it is offensive and dividing for some. For it is out of love and compassion that they do. It is easy to simply avoid conflict....it is love to speak the truth.

Seems like you're doing a bit of "bashing" yourself -- or, at the very least, painting everyone of a different group from you with a very broad, stereotypical brush.
