I am not a prejudice person but I am concerned with what is happening within the african american community. I see successful doctors, lawyers, white collar and hard working blue collar african american people...but I also see that our prisons are predominatly filled with african american men and women who have committed horrible crimes against people. What aren't we as americans and our government doing that we should be doing to help the middle and lower class african americans to succeed. I realize that prejudice does exist but is it the fact that I am not prejudice allowing me to be distorted to the truth of what's really happening? Is it parenting, society, both or a genetic thing that needs to be overcome where some do and some don't? I'm baffled and would love to live in a country where it wasn't this way. I am 28 and white and don't want to be held accountable for what my ancestors did since I never would have taken part in it and don't want to live in fear of a race either.

Its lack of love-Christian Love.Only when there is that kinda love will any leader of government be able to make the right decisions.Decisions that are right. What good can a leader do if his leader is not from the heavens above to rightfully guide him.We look for the answers to our questions the wrong places thus make the wrong decisions.(Leaders ad Governments included)

I have had some good friends that were white in fact my mothers friend is white. But until you are able to walk in our shoes trust me you have no idea. I still go into mostly white restaurants or clothing stores and get stared at. My husband literally went on a job interview and was sitting there with another guy that was going for the same job. Now mind you my husband had 16 years experience and a college degree, and they picked the a white guy straight out of trade school. If you have never been prejudice thanks, but tell that to the millions of people that are . Oh a couple of months ago they signed a twenty year bill that lets blacks vote. Why, all blacks are not bad. But yet a successful, caring black woman like myself has to be insulted with that again 20 years from now.

Oh boy where to start on this one. How about "All men are created equal under God." One of the first affirmations of your country and one to which it pays least heed. Perhaps you should look at some of the more successfully integrated nations for answers. Part of the problem is sheer size of the population and an almost innate culture of xenophobia or segregation. I know your question, it does not appear logical for it to be a phenomenon when a racial minority, woman or religious minority runs for President or even vice President, but it is, in your country. Answering these questions requires mass education in plurality from the top to the bottom and a culture shift of inclusiveness. Unfortunately I do not see this in the cards, when we start to hear for calls for the draft again it makes one realize we have not progressed from the ignorance of the Vietnam years.
The country needs a profound cultural awakening by a leader who appeals to all segments of society, I do not see one on the horizon, but some are better than others. It takes a village of dedicated souls to heal those with deviant destructive attitudes. Choose your approach wisely, random acts of kindness spread good will exponentially and do not give up hope.
