That there is a god or gods. I have no beef with religion or with the religious. I am just analyzing it
The teaching or belief that God created the world is only predominant in Christian teaching. Buddhism made no such claim. The ancient Greek and Norse religion I believe also made no such claim.
That God made man in his own image. Only in Christian teaching. The ancient Egyptian religion, and other ancient religion have gods that don't look like man.
That there is only one God. This is only predominant in Christian and Islamic teaching. Even in Christianity with so many Saints being worshipped and prayed to that claim is a bit blurr.
Thou shalt not kill. Love thy Neighbor. Sorry in advance to the Christians and Islamic believers. But these are deeply falsified by so many religious wars and battles. If I even go to detail my personal opinion on the Crusades and Jihad. I would often them further.
That in the final battle between good and evil god will prevail. The Norse believe is very different. The gods, frost giants have all fallen. The fire demon will prevail in the end and re create a better world. The gods fell first against a number of things, among them against the frost giants. The frost giants destroyed by the fire demon.
That the devil rebelled against again and cast into hell. And that demons and gods are enemies. The lord of hell is evil. Again this is only dominant in Christian Religion. The ancient Greek the lord of hell is the lord of Olympus' own brother. Hades is also a worshipped god. Other ancient cultures the lord of hell also has responsibility and reports to the king of heaven. They are not enemies. The ones the do evil deeds are evil demons that do not obey the law the is being enforced by the lord of hell.
God is forever a god. There are ancient religion that believes in cycle these gods will rule for this period, and even saying that they are in rule for their relevance for that period.
God have destroyed the world once and gave man a chance thru Noah. Some religion this is already the sixth or nth time. The ancient Greeks the first of men I think is of gold ... etc. Down to made of earth. The aztec too I think is the same.
Man god. Buddha is a man that is enlighted to a higher being, the aztec believed the fifth god that will rise in power is a man-god. Christians Jesus is son of god that became a man. The hindu Rama is a reincarnated god. But other religion no.
The good, benevolent shall see justice and go to heaven. The wicked will be punished to hell. So many believes even until now those who are victimized by evil cannot go to heaven easily especially those killed and sacrifice to the devil thru witchcraft. Thus old world monks and clergy fight the 'creatures' of the night and evil sorcerers. Predominant in Christian teaching if you pray to Jesus and ask forgiveness your sins will be remitted onto him and you go to heaven. So the good and benevolent go to heaven should be scratched. Other religion like Buddhism if your good deeds outweigh your sins and your sins are minor you can go to heaven. So the good and benevolent as long as he/she is lucky not be victimized by evil will easily go to heaven. In Christian that's not even correct cause even the most wicked of sinner can go to heaven.
God is a forgiving, loving god. Some religion you will be punished for your sin no forgiveness. The ancient Greek religion does not also apply here.
Hell, Heaven and Purgatory. Not all religion have purgator. Some doesn't even have a heaven.
Reincarnation and Karma. Christianity is most predominant in saying there is no reincarnation or karma.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethic_of_reciprocity
quote:
============================
The ethic of reciprocity or "The Golden Rule" is a fundamental moral principle found in virtually all major religions and cultures, which simply means "treat others as you would like to be treated." It is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of human rights. Principal philosophers and religious figures have stated it in different ways:
"Love your neighbor as yourself." — Moses (ca. 1525-1405 BCE) in the Torah, Leviticus 19:18
"What you do not wish upon yourself, extend not to others." — Confucius (ca. 551–479 BCE)
"What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man." — Hillel (ca. 50 BCE-10 CE)
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." — Jesus (ca. 5 BCE—33 CE) in the Gospels, Luke 6:31; Luke 10:27 (affirming of Moses)— Matthew 7:12
"Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you." — Muhammad (c. 571 – 632 CE) in The Farewell Sermon.

All religions have beliefs, philosophies, mythologies, moral codes and traditions. Most religions are actually really different. I guess the biggest thing they all share is a belief in something unexplained or unproven.

No Compulsion in Religion
[2:256] There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient
[2:257] GOD is Lord of those who believe; He leads them out of darkness into the light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are their idols; they lead them out of the light into darkness - these will be the dwellers of Hell; they abide in it forever.

Suspension of the ability to reason. OK in the past when scientific knowledge was very limited, but no excuse today.
