Last month, I was visiting a friend in California. During this time, she was invited to the wedding of two gay friends, and since I was in the area at the time, I also was invited. I didn't know the two people getting married, but since I was also invited, I felt it appropriate to bring a gift.

This was the first time I attended a gay wedding and I'm not much up on the culture. Anyways, when we arrived, I placed my gift on the table with the other gifts. Nobody paid any notice, but later in the ceremony when it came time to acknowledge gifts, my gift made quite a stir. Apparently the two gentlemen getting married didn't appreciate the gift of two gerbils that I'd brought, and started going ballistic. Fortunately I didn't leave a tag on the gift, so nobody realized it was me.

Is this really that big of a deal?

to my understanding a phophet is a person who has a vision of a way of life that would better all of mankind wether that vision was induced by a supreme being or not. gene roddenberry had a vision and used it to create a global television and movies franchise. but if he had been born 2000 years ago could he have not be the founder of a religion. why is it that people will believe a 2000 year old prophet but if someone has a vision of the future nowadays that is revalutionary they are seen to have an unseen agenda or are brushed aside as crazys.

ps im am using roddenberry as an example not a standard i dont belive star trek is the way to go but its is a vision of the future and back to my point is that not the definition of a prophet someone who can see a better way of life for mankind?

I know it is all mythical, but I was wondering why witches allegedly cannot cross running water. Is there any reason why this is? Is there some mention of the consequences of a witch crossing water in any myths/stories? Is there some sort of magical reason why they can't cross running water? (I know it is all fictional, but none-the-less I'd like serious answers, a friend of mine wishes to know to entertain children at halloween, but although she knows that witches aren't supposed to be able to cross running water, she does not know if there is any myths which explain why (I know it is mentioned in "Tam O'Shanter", but I'm not sure if it is explained.))

My cousin and I are both gay and in our late 20s. We grew up together and are very close best friends. We've had sexual relations on numerous occasions and have developed a sort of "cousins with benefits" relationship. No one knows about us and I was wondering if it's an alright relationship to have. I have many gay friends and on occasion few of them have hooked up with their gay relatives.

Let me name a few Christian urban legend myths easily disproven in a science class:
1. Evolution isn't proven (hundreds of proofs)
2. You cannot get life from nothing (there is 'life matter' all over in space, we are 'carbon units' and animo acids have formed complex chains by high impact of meteors from space)
3. The Earth is a mere 6,000 years old ( need I even try disproving this one?)
But tell them some invisible "man-god" is in the sky and they can live forever, then they throw money at the church like crazy.

some questions to dr lara that were never answered can somone please help! I need these answers to better understand the bible

* When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this?

* I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

* Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mind claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify?

* I have a neighbor who insists on working the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

* A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this

Myra Hindley didn't die, she was given plastic surgery and a new identity and is living somewhere under an assumed name.

the government let her go free secretly as there would have been a huge outcry if she was freed.

she was a Catholic and Catholics think cremation is a mortal sin, so she wouldn't have been cremated after her death.

Hmm... ...

OK - I have put in charge of my church's Christmas play for the 2nd year in a row. Last year I had a great guitarist do the accompaniment, but I would like to go with something canned this time. Can anyone suggest a good instrumental or split-track accompaniment CD with a lot of song options?? Nothing that involves Santa & Rudolph or Jingle Bells...it is a play about the Nativity .

Thanks!!
