If you want more than the 5-second answer, study Chaos Theory.

In short: within certain ranges, there are things inherantly unpredictable.

It seems we're doing quite a good job of stopping the ozone layer, Unfortunately, we that's a problem. Science has a way to stop that a well, it's just that people want to keep raping the environment.

As for stopping Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Tsunami's and the like, it does't look like God is listening to the believers on that one, so we're sort of on our own to try to find a way to deal with it.

Science is currently working on predictive technologies to determine when these events shall occur, and hopefully give some sort of warning to evacuate danger areas.

As far as preventing or stopping these disasters, we're working on understanding them. Preventing earthquakes will likely be impossible as they are a function of the tectonic plates moving about, and there would not be any likely way to fix them in place. As with Tsunami, they are also a result of earthquakes, so those too will likely remain as an event that must simply be endured.

When God can do a better job of stopping these things, then, prehaps I'll question my position on my own religious beliefs. At present though, it seems that if he's responsible, then he's also killing believers and unbelievers alike. Not sure what that means exactly, but it doesn't show me that christianity is the only way.

Why don't you try to stop breathing. Just because you can understand how something works doesn't mean you can control it.

Your question is illogical. You might as well ask, "If God is omnipotent, why doesn't he stop these disasters?"
