skean dhu is a knife worn by Scots as part of our National dress. We have had to replace this small knife with a plastic replica.

Why oh Why do these offensive women think they are above our society by persistantly wearing veils to cover the face.

In addition It would not be appropriate to send my 11 year old son to school with nothing on under his kilt, would it?

They are disrespecting western men by covering their face as a reason often given is that man will wish to have his way with them if he se's their face. Dream on. We are not a society of rapists.

What are your thoughts on Reiki? and does anyone know of any good resources and links to learn from? Im looking into buying Magic of Reiki by: Christopher Penczak.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki is religiously neutral. While Dr. Usui may have been a Buddhist, he had also studied Christianity and had lived with a Christian family for a time. It is clear he had a very broad background in many religious philosophies

I'm strictly hetrosexual, relatively conservative and have a deep abiding faith in God...however, I don't understand why COMMITTED gay couples cannot marry. Why do I feel this way?
1) If any church does not want to marry them they don't have to, just like a lot of churches won't marry divorced persons.
2) With the divorce, adultry and infidelity rate so high what is so sacred about these marriages?
3) How do we condone and tolerate thousands of children being born who never know their fathers?

If these things are not considered 'sin' why should two committed people loving each other considered 'sin'. Who are any of us to judge and set the standard for others? Are we trying to take the splinter out of someone's eye when we have a log in our own.
Serious answers only. I really want to understand.

From a Christian perspective, what are the options (option that even a straight person would be willing to do as well) for a gay man in regards to his love life? Since he cannot be with another gay man (since conservative Christians see this as wrong) what are his alternatives? Now if you say his only choice is celibacy, do you really see this as fair and would you (assuming you are straight) be willing to do this if it was reversed and being straight was a sin? I just want to know what you conservative Christians see as a viable alternative for gay men and women who believe that Jesus Christ died for their sins and truly believe this and pray everyday and cry themselves to sleep every night on a tear soaked pillow that they will wake up straight, yet the morning comes and they are still gay. What are they supposed to do? Be unhappy and know that God will do nothing to help them or just accept who they are and have a loving relationship with the same sex. Serious answers only!

Ok. So we have an omnipotent, omniscient diety on earth dying for our sins.
What's the big deal?
He is all powerful - So he can withstand the pain. Oh. And temporary pain at that.
He is all knowing - So he knew that 3 days later he would be alive again. So what's the big deal in dying in the first place?

If Jesus went to hell for all eternity to save all the others on the planet throughout time....Wouldn't that make more sense?

I would encourage a reading of this as well

OK First thanks to everyone for answering my first 1. Very thoughtful answers. Now moving onto Q #2...

Ok, so Christians believe that God created everyone and everything. What about people who live their lives with plenty of sin, the worst types of sin as well (EG: rape, murder, cruelty, maliciousness, destructiveness)? Did God make these people too? Read next paragraph b4 answering this...

People in my previous Q state that free will is the reason people do what they do... but someone in my prev. Q also stated that God knows every single move every person will make the moment they are concieved. Why would God make someone who He knows will be a sinner that would cause lots of negativety on Earth?

Why would God create someone who is a really bad sinner (rapist, murderer, etc) who doesn't stand a chance of getting into Heaven and doesn't recognize what they do as evil or just dont care (assuming they denounce religion to the end of their life)?

Thanks again for explaining.

I prayed recently to God an hour ago, to dramatically change me, to help me to be myself around people, to bless me to be stronger, to make me a leader, to take all fears away from me, and to be a man, the way he created a man to be.

Well, right after I prayed , I logged onto myspace (ofcourse), and someone posted a scripture on my blog, timed 30 minutes before I even prayed the prayer! I'm totally amazed by this..The scripture is....

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee.
Be not dismayed; for I am thy God. I will
strengthen thee, I will help thee, I will
uphold thee with the right hand of my
righteousness." ~Isaiah 41:10

In other words....
Do not fear; for I am with you. Do not be
dismayed (afraid to act because of fear)
for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
I will help you, I will uphold you with the
right hand of my righteousness.

By the way, this was right after I had a dream of me being myself around others! Which is the reason why I prayed!Advice?

Buddhism teaches that all is one energy karma, flowing of energy. Reality is change, there is no "self." Here is my question for you: If all energy is empirically subject to a constant changing nature, then why is that energy consistently human, or material, or plants, or anything for that matter. Why is it that when I procreate I know my offspring will be human? Does energy fall subservient to laws of nature, this would seem wrong, because how can the laws of nature exist when the energy is all there is. In order for laws to exist there would need to be an entity to set the laws. How does Buddhism account for the apparent natural laws of order, which seem to regulate matter. If all was merely karma and change, would not our world look very different from one generation to the next. eg why wouldnt humans be green, or dogs with intellect?
