skean dhu is a knife worn by Scots as part of our National dress. We have had to replace this small knife with a plastic replica.

Why oh Why do these offensive women think they are above our society by persistantly wearing veils to cover the face.

In addition It would not be appropriate to send my 11 year old son to school with nothing on under his kilt, would it?

They are disrespecting western men by covering their face as a reason often given is that man will wish to have his way with them if he se's their face. Dream on. We are not a society of rapists.

You make a fine point. If someone comes over to your country, they should follow your cultural rules. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." Why should your national dress have to change in your own country when they can just waltz on over and bring theirs, unchanged? It's wrong. But then again, I've never heard of a group of Scots rioting and killing their own when something didn't go their way...

Is that really the reason women give for wearing the veil? That they're afraid some man will have his way with him?! There are two words that come to mind: arrogance and vanity. I see your meaning: just because their men have no self-control doesn't mean that men everywhere have no self-control.

On a personal note, I admit that I tend to be a little biased when it comes to kilts. I have some fond memories of my grandfather in a kilt.

If the women want to wear veils, they should be able too. But you make a good point, indeed. They DO NOT have to wear the veils.
They choose to wear the veils because that is their culture. I have some muslim friends who do not wear veils. They are very nice and kind.

I do not have a problem with kilts. As long as you are wearing underwear because then it is gross and smelly.

Wearing the veil has nothing to do with thinking they are 'above society.' It is a religious practice and nothing else. Some choose to wear it because they feel more comfortable, and also because it is a symbol of their faith. Some wear it because they are forced to - that is where I object.

Right now, it is not illegal - that I know of - to wear a veil in public, so they are not breaking any laws. You haven't given a good reason as to why they shouldn't wear one - just that you are bothered by it. That's not a reason to deny them the right to dress as they please, within the limits of the law.
