Astrology and the zodiac can be remarkably close to true when you read it, but do you believe in what it says?

I'm not offended by a thumbs down at all, I just think it's people's way of saying they disagree with you and that's fine.

Sometimes I write an answer that I know is controversial, so I figure it will get it's share of thumbs down, and then it gets a bunch of thumbs up, other times I write something that seems so mild that I figure it will get a thumbs up or nothing at all, and I end up surprised by lots of downward thumbs.

Anybody else? You can be as generic or detailed as you like.

-yes, I am actually so bored that I'm interested in this right now :)

Muslims call it Lailatul Qadr or Night of power
Christian mystics call it the Dark Night of the Soul
Pentecostals call it the Baptism of the Holy Ghost
Catholics call it Holy Communion/Holy Eucharist
Buddhists call it Enlightenment
Hindus call it Moksha
Atheists call it Inspiration
It is one and the same experience produced in the brain of persons but shaped by the religion or noreligious culture in which they were brought up. It is no evidence for the existence of the divine; only evidence that your brain is working in a different mode.

A short while ago the question was asked "how happy are you right now?" Most people who answered gave their reasons for being happy outside influences. Does that mean that chance or luck, atleast in part determine happiness. Furthermore other cultures have different beliefs as to what is good and bad, people have been happy for reasons of pleasure, work, pain, people have even rejoiced over being beaten. So is your happiness controlled by what happens to you or by how you see what happens to you? and if the latter why are so many people unhappy, are they just prisoners of their culture and society?

... is this just down to tough luck as to the circumstances they were born into? I honestly don't mean disprect to any working class people at ALL... but noone can deny the dire change in lifestyle and manners towards strangers as you venture into the different econominc groups of schools and living areas in London. Working class are full of tension and refer to their fists to sort out very minor problems, like wearing the wrong shoes or having the wrong colour skin. Or being disabled. How else can this be explained?

According to the Theory of Fundamentalist Christianity, non-Christians will be punished by God in a place called "hell" or "lake of fire". This is based on a book called "The Holy Bible".

Supposedly the soul will be in "hell" for eternity.

Let's further suppose that eternity is 1 trillion years.

So the soul will be tortured for 1 trillion years because of a decision the soul made while on Earth, to not believe as a Christian.

The average life span is currently 70 years.

The ratio of punishment is 1 trillion units to 70 units.

Am I missing something?

My husband and I just moved out of state about a month and a half ago and we are trying to get ahold of our finances the right way, but the money flow is hard to come by right now and his birthday is in two weeks. I want to do something special for him......I am already making dinner and a cake etc., but I want to do something really nice for him or get him something inexpensive that he will love. He just got a new job in the business world and loves it so maybe something to do with that and he loves sports......I am not sure...any idea's (besides sex.....he'll already get that:))

out, tied them to little bags of candy and gave them away to my husband's coworkers. This year, we're separated, and I wouldn't do that at my office. Is there another witnessing idea for Halloween? Here's the poem:
Being a Christian is a lot like being a pumpkin...God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff - including the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for the entire world to see.

Wishing you a bountiful harvest of God's richest blessings!
