First, a ghost and a spirit aren't necessarially the same thing, but ignoring that....
An atheist could see a ghost and not realize that they saw one. People are always editting memoies of the things they see into things that they are willing to accept. If a person who doesn't believe in alien beings was suddenly visited by some, then they might just think it was special effects put on by Trick or Treaters.

Being an atheist can be quite perplexing. I am, and can say that I've seen things I cannot explain, but that doesn't mean they're the ghosts of human beings that are deceased. I've seen what I would call apparitions, UFO's, and things related to all sorts of occult and religious beliefs, but nothing to convince me that MY beliefs are wrong. So, to answer......maybe.

Hi Eye Candy!
I remember not believing in a haunted universe. But then, I got connected spiritualy.
Here are some ghosty questions:
1. How did the universe start since we now know it had a beginning. It makes no sense to say it was uncaused. Thus, what caused matter and energy to come into creation?
2. How did life start? Natural selection is not the whole story, and that is well known, since, you have to have something to select from. It takes a lot of biology to start life. How did life start? It is a mystery, to all people.
3. Does matter have the property of consciousness? Magnatism, gravity, the strong force, ok, but, consciousness. Consciousness is independent of matter, isn't it? There is no part of my brain that evokes my mind. It is a mystery.
These things are ghostly.

I have a friend who claims to have seen a ghost. He's atheist. He says he saw one and he's the kind of person who would NOT make something up.

Im not an athiest, be I've always wanted to see a ghost. But im pretty scared about how it would change my outlook of life. If i saw a ghost, it would give me a VERY scared feeling, and I would know they really exist, and I would be scared 9 10ths to death!

I've seen optical illusions that might be mistaken as ghosts, as well as naturally occurring noises that might be mistaken as voices. However after actually investigating the source I have always found a logical explanation for the phenomena.

Only in the movies.
I wouldn't mind seeing the ghost of friends and friendly relatives now and then, but I won't hold my breath.

I believe I have, but it was late and I was tired, so you could write it off to that. My old house was definitely haunted, though. Not a bad type of haunted. Just residual energy or a thin separation from the next plane.
I don't believe in God, but I do believe in a next plane after death.

Well.. ive been kind of spooked before. I heard a window smash at work once, it was night time. I came back the next day at work and the window was there. PS, someone hanged themselves at this place, and someone drank poison. Other people have been spooked as well.
