You guys have been quiet. Or I've been in the wrong forum. I no so little about Wicca. I'm curious about your views on Salvation and Afterlife. Do you have a holy book that you read from? Any thing you could tell me would be appreciated, thankyou.

P.S. This is a serious question, not ment for Christian or Muslims to try to " convert" anyone. So back off, guys.

your personal essence, which is housed within your body, and when you die this soul is immortal and will not die, but will either go to heaven, or hell, or be reincarnated.

This notion of an "immortal soul" is actually not anywhere in the bible.

So my question is: Why has this idea become so universally accepted as true?

The Bible, Qur'an, and other classical documents are full of contradictions and factual errors. They were written by human beings in ancient civilizations, expressing the scientific and moral speculations of their day. They do not convey the eternal word of God, but rather the yearnings of ancient tribes based on oral legends and received doctrines; as such, they are hardly relevant to all cultures and times. The Old and New Testaments are not accurate accounts of historical events. The reliability of the Old Testament is highly questionable in the events and personages it depicts; Moses, Abraham, Joseph, etc. are largely uncorroborated by historical evidence. As for the New Testament, scholarship has shown that none of its authors knew Jesus directly. The four Gospels were not written by eyewitnesses but are products of oral tradition and hearsay. There is but flimsy and contradictory evidence for the virgin birth, the healings of Jesus, and the Resurrection.

Jesus and Christians gets parodied ALL THE TIME on Southpark, Mad TV, The Simpson's, various movies, and the Colbert Report. No one gets shot, stabbed or blown up. They aren't marching on the Pentagon and movie studios over it. If they find it sacreligious, they turn the channel, put the paper away...etc.

Anytime you open the paper, who is out en masse invoking terror in the NAME OF THEIR BELEIF? Sure, the Amish guy shot up a school house, but he didn't go in there representing for Jesus either and claim Jihad on the students.

I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN but I am tired of hearing people say this to me. Please, show me an article where some Christians, or hell, ANY major religion representative killed anyone in the name of Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, whomever in the past 6 months.

Are you just being cynical and attempting to be liberal minded? I'm black, but I'm not offended that blacks are the biggest minority population in US prisons. It's the truth.

By different churches I mean e.g. Catholics, Baptists, Adventists.... I see that there are differences between Christians regarding their views on tolerance and peace and I would like to know if that are just personal opinions or it has something to do with the "branch" of Christianity. I am intererested in how tolerant they are towards atheists and people who believe in other religions, how much do they concentrate on these ideas that Jesus died for the human sins and that there was no way to salvation but to believe in this, what is their opinion about Bush and his wars, how far do they try to follow teachings of non-violence, charity and forgiveness from the gospel and what are their opinions about Jews.

To better explain myself, do you think the way you were as a child and the way you seen things have an effect on you are as an adult today in the present? Plus, can looking back on your childhood give you the insight you need to progress spiritually? Knowing who you were comparing that to who you are now, and what's changed as you got older. Your thoughts on this scenario and outlook on life.

Christians always say, if you don't believe in god, then what's the point of life? How can you find meaning if you don't believe in a higher power? Well, ok so how does believing in God give meaning to anything? So he put us here, then we die and go to heaven or hell or whatever..what was the point of all that? It still has no more meaning than if there wasn't a god. Some say well this is just some test he's giving all of us. Well if he created us all and has unlimited power, why would he need to test anything? Why not bypass it all and send people directly to a heaven or a hell. Or not have a heaven or hell and just create good people or what have you. Ur thoughts please

Why is it when someone poses a question, or you comment on an answer, they get defensive on your answer when you do not agree with what they think is right. This is a Q & A Forum I thought. Now I have hate messages and they are trying to argue to get their point across. It is a good thing that I know how to ignore them, and not read the messages. I am just deleting them without reading the remarks. It seems that some people are miserable and want everyone to be miserable with them to put it kindly. Everyone has a point to make and that is what this is about with the answers that are given, as advise is what people are asking for so I would assume. No one person has all the answers, so opinions vary in their response. This seems to be more common in this catagory than in any other. Anyone else going through this type of situation in here?
