I think for myself. I realized while reading the later books of the New Testament that some of Paul's teachings weren't consistent with what Jesus taught. Many scholars say Paul was sexist, and it's obvious to anyone who reads with an open mind. That was when I recognized that the authors of the Bible were fallible just like everyone else and they included some of their own prejudices and misconceptions in it. Any responsible Christian should take everything with a grain of salt, even the Bible itself, and think about what is consistent with Jesus' message and what isn't. A lot of the hatred and intolerance being preached in the name of Christianity has nothing to do with anything Jesus said, and much of it directly contradicts it. That's just as bad as the terrorism being practiced in the name of Islam.

I may agree with a dogma given (though that is unusual in itself... I don't agree with much given), but I ultimately think for myself. If I didn't, I would be accepting All the dogma of any given religion.
I test them from every angle I can to see if it stands up. Most of the time, though, you can see right away the one's that will topple over at any challenge to it.

I plough my own furrow. I take what ethical teachings I need from various religions, subject them to scrutiny and if they conform to logic and common sense I will adhere to them. I only see religions as a tool-a means to an end so doctrines and dogmas and liturgies don't really interest me.

Are you asking if I am a Christian who you assume is blindly following someone else's opinion (dogma)?
Or or you asking if I am a Christian who arrogantly asserts the opinions of the church?
One would have to think for themselves to have faith in Christ. That would be after understanding what faith in Christ involves.
I suppose there are those who are dogmatic.
I used my God given ability to think for myself to study bible prophecy. It didn't take long to see that the bible is true, prophecy has been and will be fulfilled, regarding us mortals.
Jesus shed His precious blood on the cross for my sins and yours. Hope that you get a chance to study the bible for yourself and come to a saving faith in Jesus.

After examining evidence have you never come to a conclusion that someone else was correct and you thought it would be best to follow their direction? That is what I have done in my faith. I am convinced that Jesus is the Christ, that He is God in Human flesh... Jim

I am a free thinker. I chose my dogmas for myself. I am not afraid to disagree with others who try and say I am wrong.

As a child I believed in god, because I was told to. I also believed in other imaginary things. As I grew older I questioned my beliefs. Now I don't see any need for a personal god, nor do I see any evidence that would support such a believe.

If you went to college, Did you take for granted what the professors taught or did you take the time to prove it to yourself? I like to think I do that by weighing all the evidence

I study, read, challenge, learn, and form my own conclusions. I try to be well versed in the alternative positions to those of my own.
