Of course. Everyone is so fearful that someone is going to say the wrong thing all the time. Or that they may say the wrong thing. It's called being politically correct.

Sure. This is why language is continually "dumbed" down. New words must arise from special sectors such as youth/science etc. Watch it in the questions here. You see an early step of this fear in the loss of grammar inc. abbreviations etc.

Yes. We have been educated to associate specific meanings with certain words, so we have come to dread these words. It's not so irrational, though, because we are really thinking about their meanings.

Heard about the guy with the tshirt on which there was Arabic writing, who wasnt let on a plane because the people didnt know what it meant?
