It is written in the bible to renew ones mind with the Word of God. That the truth sets people free. Lies are what keep us in bondage.

There is a procedure known as brainwashing that is complex and gruesome. When people refer to people of faith as having been "brainwashed," they are using it in this negatively connotated way: that our minds have been bent and skewed due to the pressure, torture, misinformation, coercion, and cruelty of others.

God does indeed cleanse the mind of impurities, if one seeks his will for their lives after having accepted his Son. But a cleansing is different than a forced and against-one's-will "brainwashing." In order for God to cleanse one's mind, one must ask him, and one must submit to the discipline, having faith that he who is doing it is good.

While I understand your point, I also understand that you are opening up a door for the faithless to say things like, "See! This is evidence that Christians are sheep and can't think for themselves!" Which is ultimately impotent, since they don't know of what they are speaking. But in any event, I wanted to call attention to the distinctions between what God does for good purposes and what people do for evil purposes--i.e., the difference between mind purification with one's consent and mind destruction against one's wishes.

That's great unless the Bible was, as it seems to have been, written by a group of men a few hundred years after Jesus' death who had their own agenda and LIED about the notion that their words were transcribed from God. If they were simply putting their own viewpoints down and lying about where they got them, you will have to rethink your entire position.

The truth DOES set people free. The problem is that the Bible isn't truth. It's just writings.

i really hoped that brainwashing is just getting rid of that stinking thoughts, but so sorry dear, it isn't the same as dishwashing...
brainwashing is the application of coercive techniques to change the beliefs or behavior of one or more people usually for political or religious purposes. brains are not dishes that are supposed to be washed, i mean, God did not create us with minds to be washed, if you get what i mean...

The only people that can be brainwashed are those who are morally degenerate and I don't want moral degenerates holding the reins of political power. Brainwashed religionists aren't dangerous until they spread their tentacles into government and that is their goal, in the US at any rate.

Motivation is everything. Intention, why we do what we do.
Everybody tries to manipulate other peoples thinking to their own.
Me included.
However, where most people try to manipulate our thinking so they can control us.
I try to maniplulate others peoples thinking so they
can have more control over themselves.

Lies can only keep you in bondage if you believe it. Jesus said "I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life, no one comes to the father, except through me". Trust and believe in Jesus and the truth WILL set you free.

NO, you should review the bible once more, remember that little thing called free will, if your mind is being washed it is usually being prepared to follow the one who washes it

Our own thinking is nothing but selfishness from birth.

For man is born in evils of all kinds, thus in hell, for evils are hell; he is brought out of it by the Lord, to whom belongs the power of opening it. That by "having the keys of hell and death," is not meant the power of casting into hell, but the power of saving, is because it immediately follows after these words:

Behold, I am alive for ages of ages;
