Why are muslim women secondary to the men? Isn't it a bad religion when it tells you to believe in it or be killed?

Not completely true...
Modern Muslim countries such as Turkey and Malaysia have significant opportunities for women (they at least let them wear modern clothes, drive cars and get well-paying jobs).

In the more backward Muslim societies such as the Talibanian Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, and some sectors of Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh... thats where discrimination of women unfortunately is the norm.

Actually they are not I'm a American Muslim woman revert and my husband is from saudi Arabia and he treats me with great respect and like a queen. All rights are equal to men and women in Islam. The man is the care taker and he can not ask his wife for money even if she is richer then he is he can not ask her for this unless she wants to then he can does that sound like the men treat us badly?.

we are treated with great respect, women are treated like royalty we are allowed to work if we like we can do what ever we want as long as it is not going to harm us, but of course like all other religions and cultures you have bad all over look at Mexicans most are drunks and beat up there wife's don't mean that all are like that.

What about American men what we see no that men kill there pregnant wife's surely not all American Christian men are like this and surely not all priests are Child molesters, so before you go judging you should really ask questions before you start judging something you really know nothing about and go on what you hear on TV.

this is totally wrong, maybe some ignorant cultures do that but not Islam religion.
u know, Islam signifies the role of women and mothers all the time, take a look at a translated Quran please.
our prophet said "heaven lies under mothers' feet" he was trying to tell us to respect mothers and women in general.
Islam tells men to treat their wives in the best way they can, not to mention shelter, food and clothes. Muslim men are responsible for women in every aspect because they are supposed to be treated like queens, not for domination at all.
so if some people use that in a wrong way, it doesnt mean that this is Islam everywhere.

Obviously your answers show how wrong you have got it.I am a Muslim women i am treat like a princess from every male in my family and with the most amount of respect from every Muslim male outside my family.

Rather than make yourself look like a moron and ask questions about a faith you know nothing about, stick to asking questions about your own faith and culture.

that's unlucky which you have witnessed such issues. however the element is, those strikes are so a procedures from Islam. As a Muslim woman i can declare it provides me rights, in fact extra rights than this society does with it is easy degradation of females. Islam teaches that men and girls are distinctive, yet equivalent. regrettably some Muslims rather do no longer understand/p.c. to no longer understand that and that they assume that the adult males are infinitely extra suitable. by their strikes that's confusing for outsiders to have faith that that's no longer Islam in any respect, yet this is the fact.

Huh, hello?? i am a muslim and Islam does not treat women badly and secondary to men. we are treat with respect and dignity and Islam protects its women from abused of mens..Islam gave all sorts of priviledges to womens in Islam..

and oh, Hello?? where were you all this while? in cave or something? hiding from the truth??

well, anyway, in the past, mens of any other religion like christians, buddist, hindus and others (except Islam) treats their women like a slave or like to a nothing..even voting is banned..they were only being seen as object of desire and lust and does not entitle to say and give a final say to anything.. in India, baby girl is buried alive as they dont want to bear a huge dowry cost in the future.. same goes to Chinese..

the black women in the western world also treated second to slave after the black mens in the past..

so my bobby..think and use you BRAIN before giving WISE statement like that...

and again..ISLAM never put its womens so low! Thank you..
Duh!

I am muslim (convert). My husband is a Syrian Bedu. He treats me like GOLD. Much better than any non muslim I dated before him and converting. He bought me a car and a lasik eye surgery. He helps clean the house becasue he knows I work a full week just like he does. He is encouraging me to get my MBA. Basically, the woman is the "keeper" of the house and pays the bills. My husband calls himself "the machine" to make money for the family. He is very caring and loving.

Islam does not treat women badly, Islam gives them rights. Islam gave women rights 1400 years ago, when women in the other parts of the world used to be treated like prostitutes.

I don't think its just the religion that causes people to treat women badly.

Also I believe that Muslims shouldn't kill people because they don't believe in their religion. You don't see Christians doing this.
