Salmonella, but you don't hear about Muslims and Jews bashing chickens. Isn't it about time that their prejudice against the pig, due to a belief held in the past, came to an end in the modern age?

The Science Channel's lineup tonight (America) includes reruns of "The Rise of Man" parts 1 & 2, from 9-11 p.m. Eastern Time.

It's a fascinating documentary about the evolution of humankind.

One synopsis notes that it "covers the development of the human species from Homo Erectus, the first species to demonstrate signs of humanization, to Homo Sapien. It follows the path of our direct ancestors as they migrate across the planet. Because of it, created and technological and social-structure advances, the Homo Sapien version of the species was able to thrive."

If I recall correctly, "Rise of Man" is the documentary which also credibly suggests how very early man began considering the idea of gods.

Who plans on watching it?

It will be repeated at midnight and a few more times. See http://science.discovery.com/tvlistings/series.jsp?series=117476&gid=0&channel=SCI for more information.

I don't need a support system
Lifting me into prop position
What I need is a man of action
I need my attraction to you
Driving me down all those dangerous avenues
Lions and tigers tearing at their food

I know the gossip flies around at breakfast
One of them reins is in your hand
Where do you get the **** off thinking I was there at the party
'Cause all my friends feed me the evil reasons
Why you and I should not be friends?
Let's think this whole thing through
Tell me, just what the hell is a lover supposed to do?
I got the wrong reaction, a slap in the face from you

This is such a stupid picture
Wrap me in a steak
Why don't you throw me in the panther cage
And maybe then I'll like you better
(No way!)

I don't need a support system
Lifting me into prop position
What they make is a separation of beauty from attitude
What satisfaction is left when all you do
Tells everyone you're acting untrue?

This is such a stupid picture
Light a cigarette
Why don't you stub it in the carborateur
And maybe then you'll sell me something
(No way!)

I don't need a support system
Put your hand on my heart and listen
What I need is a dedication to last me all the way through
Pointing the finger, I'm counting on loving you
Over and above the passion
I'm connected to you

I think that girls and boys, men and women, are inhernently similar. But as they grow up, they grow more and more apart due to social pressures. I think as youngsters, children are sort of blank slates. But as time goes by they are pressured to act the way their parents think they should act. And when they get older, it's self perpetuatiing. girls and boys (boys especially) want to be as far on their end of the spectrum as possible, because thats what all their friends want, too. That is so dumb. We are all driven by normal biology. You don't see animals adopting this behavior. A male horse doesnt act any different than a female horse. And I'm not talking about the instintual competetiveness you see in Bucks tying to fight to impress the female. Thats different. Females are competitive, too. My argument is that people are forced to act a certain way early on, its self perpetuating in society, and the few who diviate, have to suffer for it, and I dont think that is right.

ok so this was actually brought up by my english teacher it was something like this.....

A black person can say...I want to live in a black neighborhood where there are people the same race as me, that like the food i like, that play the sports i play, that listen to the music i listen to and we dont really call that racism

BUT.....

If a white person says I want to live in a white neighborhood where there are people the same race as me, that like the food i like, that play the sports i play, that listen to the music i listen to we call them racists

Is that not messed up?

I just wanted to hear other opinions: There is no such thing as an axis. God called the world and everything in it by His word Gen. 1:1 and Isa. 66:1 He said let there be and there was. Science must try to draw a reasonable conclusion to and make it factual, not supposingly truth. Therefore, we can reasonable say that we walk around with imaginary oxygen tanks on our backs to breathe. Let God be true and every man a lier.

This song's for you, Mr. Bojangles, and everyone else who has delighted me in this forum over the last week.

Mr. Bojangles

written by Jerry Jeff Walker
recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker (1968)
also recorded by Bob Dylan
and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on the album "Uncle Charlie" (1970)

I knew a man Bojangles and he danced for you
In worn out shoes;
With silver hair, a ragged shirt, and baggy pants,
The old soft shoe.
He jumped so high, he jumped so high,
Then he'd lightly touch down
Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles,
Dance!

I met him in a cell in New Orleans, I was
Down and out.
He looked to me to be the eyes of age
As he spoke right out
He talked of life, he talked of life,
He laugh-slapped his leg a step.

He said the name, Bojangles, and he danced a lick
Across the cell.
He grabbed his pants, a better stance, he jumped up high,
He clicked his heels.
He let go a laugh, he let go a laugh,
Shook back his clothes all around.
Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles,
Dance!

He danced for those at minstrel shows and county fairs
Throughout the South.
He spoke with tears of fifteen years how his dog and him
Had traveled about.
His dog up and died, he up and died,
After 20 years he still grieves.
Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles,
Dance!

He said "I dance now at ev'ry chance in honky tonks
For drinks and tips.
But most of the time I spend behind these county bars
'Cause 'I drinks a bit."
He shook his head, and as he shook his head I heard someone ask "Please,
Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles,
Dance!"
