I thought we are supposed to have freedom of speech. In schools the teachers are not aloud to talk about God or pray. I dont understand just because someone that does not believe complains that they dont want there child hearing about God they get there way. Those of us that do believe dont have a say in anything anymore.

Some people think God is obligated to save someone.
Some think people deserve salvation.
Some people think God is unjust if he does not save someone.
This is not biblical...
Mercy is unmerited favor. No one deserves Gods salvation. Everyone deserves his judgement. Some get mercy and some get justice but no one get injustice.

Growing up in a traditional Catholic church has left me with a bias. I love all traditional hymns played on the organ. I moved a few years ago and began attending another church (still Catholic) that uses instruments such as tambourines, guitars, drums, and even maracas. The organ is rarely used. This music bothers me to the point where I barely want to go to mass. Even though I mentioned I had a bias, I still believe these instruments (and not to mention very contemporary songs) do not belong in a Catholic church. It is very important that I get answers from Catholics only, because most other religions are used to this type of music used in worship. What are your opinions on this? Defend yourself-make sure you mention if you grew up with that type of music. That is a huge factor.

"Haring (Keith) was diagnosed with AIDS in late 1988. Soon after that, with the unihibited candor that defined him and his work, he gave ROLLING STONE a penetrating and philosophical interview about his illness. Death, he said, is "not a limitation, in a way. It could have happened any time, and it is going to happen sometime. If you live your life according to that, death is irrelevant."" Any comments? --no religious sh*t please...sorry don't know who the source of the quote is..I just cut it out a magazine while I was very sick.

Those that say they do not believe in God because they have not seen, felt, tasted, or even smelled God why is it that you can claim for sure there is no God?

Think about this for a second or two;
We are limited to our five senses, but can you 100% trust those senses?
seriously think about how much you rely on your sense of sight. Can you be 100% certain that what your own eyes are seeing is the exact same image that someone elses eyes are seeing? Science has not proved 100% that what you see and what another sees is exactly the same thing, what about people who are color blind?

I am not asking this in any way to discredit anyones belief system, I think that what each of us believe is personal, so I would never attack your faith in God or your non Faith in God.

I just thought I would put this out for non-believers who seem to ridicule others who happen to believe in something different than you happen to believe.

And please let's be serious and respectful.
Just curious.

I'm Catholic and I believe in God and Jesus and so does my family. But, we don't go to church every sunday and as I said I'm not Christian, but Catholic. I don't know much about the Bible but i definately have faith. So my question is, do you have to read the bible, go to church every sunday, and know everything about God to be saved? Seriously, some people speak of going to church as a chore or something they have to do. It's not something they really enjoy I think. As for me, I have faith but I don't have patience, so I get bored in church.

Most people learn racial stereotypes from two sources: the media and most importantly, their parents. What will you teach your children about people who don't look the same as they do?

EVERYBODY: Can I just say something that I think you should all hear? Okay, I don't care what religion you are or what religion you aren't. You don't know, no one knows. This goes for everybody-

Athiests (like me) We don't know God doesn't exists, we can't prove God doesn't exist, even if we discredit the bible. We can't totally prove evolution, it is a widely believed theory, (not a religion, a scientific idea that is generally held to be true). But we can't prove it 100%. You can believe it to be true. You can't say "I know God doesn't exists", you only believe that.

That being said....

Theists-You can't prove God exists! A bible doesn't prove it. It isn't 100% concrete proof. You believe God exists and whatever religion you follow, you believe it. You believe Jesus is our savior, you can't know it. You can't actually prove it.

So instead of when people say "Why should I believe ____?" You can't really respond with "because I know its true!"

Do you agree?

i met a guy on line, he thinks eveything in king james is a lie that isnt in his quran.
he said many things about jesus is a lie!!
its funny that muhamaad is the only honest prophet.
my thought are that muhamaad didnt see angel gabriel (one who gave him words for quran) but in fact it was SATAN!!!
satan hatched the perfect plan to send so many to hell.
the only way to get saved is through jesus. unless you dont know any better.
read 1st timothy 3:16.
god is jesus , jesus is god, god has three parts.
its so hard to comprehend but its true.
but ppl who study the quran cant see satans lie.
this man almost had me convinced but thanks to god(through prayer) my pastor, my christian friends and some of u on here, i came back from the dark side!!!
jesus is lord!!! john 3:16.
but do look at timothy. it sums it all up.and jesus was able to eat fish and honeycomb after he was risen because he was not yet changed. we will only get our glorified bodys after rapture at marrige supper .

I have been through a lot of catagories on this yahoo, answers page, But what I have noticed is that The Religion catagory has some of the most hated, discusting, remarks and accusations of all the catagories. Is this what everyones religion teaches them...I see everyone saying hate this...hate that...But to be fair to Christian,Jewish...I don't see them stating hatred to anyone...but I see lots toward them. This ,I thought would have been an enlightening catagory to read and answer...I to have found myself answering harshly against someone who has bashed a religion for no reason. We should all know there is only One God...no matter what we call him, and if you are doing as he says, then why all the negativity

I mean I'm the only woman, and I would never have chosen to be in this situation but I'm the only one left to take over the family business--I'm not clueless about the work, I've worked for my Dad my whole life,,,but in the office. Now I'm expected to go to lots of meetings that are 100% men-except me. Are they snickering behind my back?

During Mel's arrest he stated that Jews are the reason for all the wars in the world. If he had replaces the word Jews with the word Muslims, do you still think he would have been the lead story on every news channel for a week? Do you think we would still be calling him a racisit and not a hero?
