During Mel's arrest he stated that Jews are the reason for all the wars in the world. If he had replaces the word Jews with the word Muslims, do you still think he would have been the lead story on every news channel for a week? Do you think we would still be calling him a racisit and not a hero?

well actually TRYING to kill all the Jews is the reason for some of the wars,so maybe what he was saying wasn't raciest he just misspoke in his intoxicated state .and yes he still would have been on the news.because the media and a lot of people that didnt get a piece of the pie from the passions of the christ are still po'ed

Maybe, maybe not. Even if the public would have been more forgiving of the word muslim, that doesn't make it right. there's alot of misconceptions about that because of one small crazy sect of people. we should be looking past 9/11 and seeing the muslims that are our neighbors and friends. I'm not saying forget or forgive 9/11, but not every muslim was responsible for that, any more than every jew was responsible for whatever the heck mel's blaming them for.

Aw, Mel just has problems with alcohol and sometimes people need to spout off. If I got upset every time someone called me a ***** I'd be in the nut house.

...yes, the reaction would be the same...because all the liberal nut jobs would scream out to appease the supposed muslim community. And maybe rightfully so..
..the objection should be based on principle and not Jews or muslims.

Yes, I think he still would have been on every news channel. We would still call him racist, but other racists would feel less political pressure to keep their mouths shut. Since Muslims are the hate group du jour, simple people looking for easy scapegoats would have been more vocal and been less stigmatized for it.

Excellent question, and I agree with you. Although there would probably be some coverage, I doubt it would be as big as this. People have a sado-masochistic relationship with celebrities, it seems--we love to hate them, yet worship the trivial details of their lives.

It would probably be applauded because it is true and we are at war with Muslims. we are not at war with Jews. Do you know how much technology we give them? Do you know how much technology they give us? Israel and the USA are allies and bound by democratic laws and government.
