EVERYBODY: Can I just say something that I think you should all hear? Okay, I don't care what religion you are or what religion you aren't. You don't know, no one knows. This goes for everybody-

Athiests (like me) We don't know God doesn't exists, we can't prove God doesn't exist, even if we discredit the bible. We can't totally prove evolution, it is a widely believed theory, (not a religion, a scientific idea that is generally held to be true). But we can't prove it 100%. You can believe it to be true. You can't say "I know God doesn't exists", you only believe that.

That being said....

Theists-You can't prove God exists! A bible doesn't prove it. It isn't 100% concrete proof. You believe God exists and whatever religion you follow, you believe it. You believe Jesus is our savior, you can't know it. You can't actually prove it.

So instead of when people say "Why should I believe ____?" You can't really respond with "because I know its true!"

Do you agree?

P.S. I think Agnostics, with the whole "never really knowing for sure" thing, they got something there.

Thanks for the answers people!

Okay, so yes, I mispelled Atheist, sorry if you're offended.

Second, I don't usually comment on specific answers, but without naming names, here I go:

Evolution is considered fact by some, but that doesn't mean that you can prove it 100% true and hold it up as absolute truth. Also because some people have commented to refute that evolution is complete crap, made me think I was right labeling it as more of a "what we think happened" thing.

The whole fork in the road thing doesn't work because no one has gone down that road before and found the end of the road to be "the right way" and come back again. (What I'm saying is that you may pick a road and believe its the right road but when you die and "know it's the right way", you can never come back to tell someone that, you will never come back to that fork in the road.

Again, the whole "look around and you will find God's love-clearly this world is of divine creation!!!" doesn't prove didly squat.

You're right; that response is not an argument but a mere statement of belief.

Side note: Just because we don't yet fully understand everything about and can't map out every single step of the evolutionary process does not mean that evolution is invalid.

you are correct. i cannot prove without a doubt that God does exist....yet.

however, your statement is greatly flawed when it comes to evolution. there is NO proof of evolution on such a scale that it shows the continuation of DNA structural changes that can accomodate the ameoba to man...or any other creature except another ameoba.

there are evidence of micro-evolution, wherein one can breed a specific GENE (not dna) to produce a genetic variation of a species, but the species remains the same.

in nature we do see that some insects and arachnids that are born with a sport (genetic mutation) are able to adapt, or not adapt to a given environment.

in the instance of a woooly mammoth and the common elephant, there are enough similarities of the animals to suggest that they came from the same species and share common genes. this does not mean that the woolly mammoth evolved into todays elephant, but rather is itself a sport, who adapted to the cold climate.....admittedly, there are advantages to being able to adapt to a climate change.....

what keeps a theist going this day, is the fact that we do have tangible proof of Jesus walking the earth. this proof is in the form of tabernacle records of His "blasphemy" by the rabbis; the governmental docuements of the ceasars in the same time that He walked the earth, etc....

yes the documents of His miracles and His teachings were written mostly after His death and ressurection, but nobody ever sat down and penned a war novel, while on the front line, either.

what a theist can prove, with science, history and archeology, is the physical evidence of Jesus, mohommed, king david, king saul, king solomon, john the baptist, moses, pharoh, the ceasars of that time....the civilizations, the nations, the cities, the deserts and the rivers...the rivers and deserts are still there and many of the cities of the bible are still inhabited and in digs around the "biblical" sites, we are finding more and more evidence of the cities and nations that no longer exist.

there is now a dig for several years that has been identified as sodom, from the texts that they have found in the blasted lands of the now destroyed city.

it is only a very, very small leap of faith to say that there is a divine presence there, whereas it is a tremenoulsly enormous canyon to hurdle when there is no proof of a cosmic menopause that triggered any and all species to "evolve" with or without the existence of an intermediate form (ancestor) of that species which bears a different genetic (DNA) make up.

I wish I could have worded it as well as you. Thank you for putting this out there. I agree completely. I used to do the "The bible is stupid! It's fake!" thing, but I've come to realize that no matter what your beliefs are, you can't prove yours either. I only wish the people who actually need to read this will, because I think they are to afraid to read it.

We (atheists) tend to act liek we have solid proof, but we don't. Many people just cant accept that. And theists are exactly the same. I wish they';d read it, but they'll just say that the bible is a fact and you are stupid. I wish we as a society could stop pushing religion on each other and just let people believe what they want to believe, and when someone asls about religion, they could give a thought out and responsible answer. Again, thank you for putting this on the internet.

I think maybe a part of you already believes, but you are wrestling with the logical visible proof.

That, my friend, you will never find, until you seek yourself. I know that the belief for me came from teachings of my youth, were questioned later in early adulthood, and then confirmed belief that no one can shake when I turned 40 and actually had the proof placed in front of me.

Coincidence, some might say when I speak of this truth and proof, but I know as sure as I breathe that God guides me daily and is a part of my daily life. He has a way of showing it in so many ways.

Have you ever prayed, really prayed. I use to pray and had doubts about the whole prayer thing. Like I said it was like a gate was opened when things were openly clear to me. I first thought it was coincidence myself, but later came to know it was the truth. As far as prayer goes, sometimes prayers are not answered for a reason. And please don't think or equivocate it to making a phone call, it is not that shallow. Prayer is the ultimate communication tool. It is more than hoping and wishing, it is guidance and trust.

Nope i totally disagree 100%... If you no God then you no that he does exist and that he is real because you've felt him and nothing of this world can feel the way that God does spiritually. And yes the Bible does prove that there is a God in Heaven, I guarantee that there is nothing in the Bible that you can 100% prove to me to be untrue.. If you can do this, if you can prove to me that there is one single thing in the Bible that u can prove to me to be un true then i will agree with you all the way about your theory.. Please feel free to e mail me your results, and this can be for anyone reading the response's...

kdude421,Seriously,set aside your concepts, open your mind and look at this. FACT; within your heart that quiet feeling of greatness that you feel urging you to seek, you don't know what,is the spirit of GOD, within you(some call this faith). Fact; evolution is a fact, incomplete but a fact.. Fact; the universe is ever expanding.Fact; the universe began with the big bang.Fact everything came into existance. FACT; ALL THESE FACTS PROVE THAT GOD EXISTS,AND IS STILL IN THE PROCESS OF CREATION. FACT; the outer universe is but a reflection of what is in your heart,if you go there, you will see for yourself. the mind can never grasp the allness of GOD.LOVE

There is on great difference though. Christianity is based on faith, therefore we can say its truth because our faith is our life and we truly do believe it. If I were to take a lie detector test I guarantee that it would say that I was telling the truth that God exists because that is what I truly do believe. I have no doubt at all in my faith. As far as needing proof, I don't need it, I have all I need from the Word and from the fulfilled prophecies from it. I will have to say though that I respect you very much for not lashing out like a lot of ppl do, sometimes it just seems like a huge battle on this site.

How confusing! All I know is that my husband has come really close to death many times. Fortunately I was there and got him to the hospital several times. I have had a chaplain pray over him and he has always come back to me here on earth. For some reason he has been saved even when I wasn't around. I believe there is something or someone out there that has a purpose for all of us. I believe until that purpose is fulfilled we will live. I am not religious and I am not anti-religious. I just don't really know.

it all comes down to what you personally believe. I was Christian and then went Agnostic because I was unsure of my beliefs and/or what I really believed in. Then I found Hinduism and something just clicked. This is where the term "faith" comes in. you cannot prove that God/Krishna/Allah/etc exist. you have to have trust in a higher power that that specific higher power/Absolute Truth exist.

Well said.
there are 10 lousy questions full of anger here every day that ask the same question.

Plaudits for your character.

Religion will never be proven - it is generally faith based. Since you can't prove 100%, you generally can't prove the oposite 100% (until you die I guess)
