A co-worker of mine claims to be both. I asked him if there are anyconflicting ideas between these two ideals and he said no. I don't know enough about either to decide but I would like to know from people who are knowledgable in these areas. I'm asking this because this coworker seems to be saying this just to stand out and be different.

Afghanistan's massive drug trade is hitting record levels this year with a possible 40 percent increase in lands under opium poppy cultivation.

After a couple of years of being under US control Afghanistan now produces more than 90 percent of the world's opium and heroin supply.

Bush’s counternarcotics strategies in Afghanistan have been completely unsuccessful in stemming opium cultivation by US funded and armed Warlords and this drug trade is having a corrosive effect on President Hamid Karzai's struggling government.

It is apparent that like everything else handled by lil bushy and his pie in the sky neo-con government is that they do not have a clue in what they are doing and the only things they are good at is throwing borrowed money at problems and dropping a lot of bombs on people.

The best rule of thumb for anything "Is Does it work?"

Consider that the age of the Universe is 13.7 billion years and age of Earth is only 4.57 billion years. There is a big old gap of about 9 billion years -- while the Universe has been sitting there cooking something up.

Is it therefore not such a far fetch to say, some other consciousness would have sprung up and have advanced much further than our own human history? After all it took only about 200,000 years for human to evolve to our current state and we only had about 500 years of science.

BTW, I already know the time specified in the Bible which is more or less of 6000 years, so please do not repeate it at this time.

The so-called Christians who support posting the Ten Commandments seem silent on posting the Sermon on the Mount.
Opponents of the commandments claim that the commandments, among other things, insist on a monotheistic viewpoint.
The Sermon on the Mount is about social justice. The argument is made that social justice is NOT really a high priority for the Religious Right, but imposing their monotheistic viewpoint is.

According to Christianity, God made everything. That means EVERYTHING. He made everything with great purpose. That is to say that nothing he made was a mistake or an accident. Everything, and every characteristic/nature of said things, he made, was done so purposefully.

So let me get this straight. The following is what Christians ACTUALY believe:

From my understanding, the bible (the christian god's word) says that if I don't worship him, I'll be tortured in Hell for all eternity. That's not very tolerant of him. He doesn't seem very friendly towards people with other points of view. Why should I worship him if he's going to be so mean and discriminate against others?

If you are sinning and because of the Holy Spirit living within you, your convicted of you sins and repent immediatly...What then does God have to judge you on? God said that he throws your sins away and remembers them no longer. So why will you face a judgement?

I've noticed everytime I post a question or I notice some of the answers that are posted some people insist on dragging God into it. There are other ways to make a point rather than just saying "God says so!" referring to the Bible for example. Because not everyone is Christian ,I don't believe giving qoutes from the Bible is a very practical means of pushing a point. It seems when someone challenges a Christian idealogy they are immediately bombarded with Bible qotes and God Blesses. I don't take offense to any of this ,but I'm confused as to why someone would depend soley on a book that is not unanimously accepted for leverage.

How therefore do you presume that, from so innocent a childhood and youth, I have suddenly arrived at the ultimate of premeditated horror? no, you do not believe it. And yet you who today tyrannize me so cruelly, you do not believe it either: your vengeance has beguiled your mind, you have proceeded blindly to tyrannize, but your heart knows mine, it judges it more fairly, and it knows full well it is innocent.

Just thinking about it... I am watching something on the History Channel related to it. Does anyone believe that it can tell what is to come, etc.? They say it leaves relative times as to when the End of the World is to come, but then again, there are writings where it says that the time of the Armaggedon is not to be known.

Any thoughts?

All these questions attacking Christians for their beliefs. Why? Why do the non christians complain about the christians forcing their beliefs on others, while I didn't see a single question from christians regarding other beliefs. It is always the nonchristians trying to force their beliefs on us christians. Doesn't anyone else see this?
