I've noticed everytime I post a question or I notice some of the answers that are posted some people insist on dragging God into it. There are other ways to make a point rather than just saying "God says so!" referring to the Bible for example. Because not everyone is Christian ,I don't believe giving qoutes from the Bible is a very practical means of pushing a point. It seems when someone challenges a Christian idealogy they are immediately bombarded with Bible qotes and God Blesses. I don't take offense to any of this ,but I'm confused as to why someone would depend soley on a book that is not unanimously accepted for leverage.

Read some of my questions and tell me if they're offensive or not.

I didn't say the Bible offended me. Can you not read my question all the way through and try to actually comprehend? I think its pretty straight forward! I'm just stating that it isn't a practical referrence to make a point outside of church. For example you wouldn't go to court and say "but God says love thy neighbor!" Simply because its in the Bible doesn't mean everyone will accept it ,when legitimate, unbiased, and non religion related points are made they are valid on a universal scale. The Bible ,however, is not. I don't mean to offend anyone by this question and if you are offend I'm very sorry.

Okay, unimously accepted. Here in the United States the Constitution is unanimously accepted. That's a for instance. If I were in church right now Bible qoutes would make perfect sense ,but not here.

In point of the Christian aspect of a question was neither implied or stated ,but the referrence was made anyway. I believe in God, so stop trying to make an athiest out of me. This is a valid point like any other and like I said before, I don't take offense ,but it isn't practical.

It is the circular reasoning used by believers:
Is there a God?
Yes.
How do you know?
Because the Bible says so.
How do you know the Bible is correct?
Because it was inspired by God.
Is [it] wrong to do _______?
Yes.
Why?
Because the Bible says so.
But what if I'm not a Christian?
Then you'll go to hell.
What if I'm right?
You can't be right.
Why?
Because the bible says you're not.
Wasn't the bible written by men?
Yes.
How do we know it wasn't just made up?
Because it is the word of God.
You can't win that argument because you can't REASON with it.

The Bible is generally accepted by Christians, and thus Christians are able to discuss things with each other, much the way lawyers may refer back to certain laws or the constitution. If you ask a question that has a moral undertone to it, don't be surprised that a Christian would refer back to the Bible. It would be the same situation if you asked a question about law, and got a legal response from a lawyer.
Do you prefer answers where people say God says so, provide scripture reference, or only answer if they are not Christian?

I consider myself very Christian. I am one of the least likely people you can offend. I usually back up my point of an argument with my personal life experience rather than quotations from the bible. I don't normally feel comfortable giving blessings here because I don't usually know the background of whom I am posting an answer to. I respect all religions equally and truly am very curious about most faiths. The more I learn about Judaism and Hindu the more I find that our basic core principles are the same. Live a good life, do what you can to help others and respect are what I wish for all. Many times when a person posts God Bless You, they are just wishing good things to you. Please don't be offended. If someone wished me Shalom I would accept it and return the greeting. Well wishes to you!

So, in other words because the Bible and God are a major portion of our life, Freedom of Speech does not apply to us. I have seen more non-Christians on this sight miss quoting the Bible then I have seen Christians quoting it. The next time you post a question and you think it is from a Christian just scroll right past it then. If you question Christian ideology naturally we are going to bring up the Bible. That would be like a child (someone challenging Christians) going up to an architect (Christians) and saying I know more about building than you do.

The core belief in Christianity comes from the Bible. That's why you get the quotes. For myself, you can only offend me if you try to hurt me or mine, never a good idea. As to your questions and beliefs, I personally fought on various battlefields to insure you had that right. Wouldn't it be silly if now I took offense because you exercised the right. I also happen to agree with you that there are more ways of debating religion than quoting from a book. It probably all comes down to how secure you are in your personal beliefs whether you take offense or not.
Late note: Guess I forgot to mention I am a Christian.

For a non-christian you will really not appreciate nor understand bible quotation. Just for an intelictual exercise why don't you try to read and understand the bible, after all it is the only book that has been sold the highest number of copies and translated into all major languages of the world.

Friend, have you ever read the Bible?
Can you name a book that is "unanimously accepted"?
The Bible is the most published book in the history of publishing, so there must be something to it.
Try reading it. Start in John's Gospel.

You don't seem to understand one important fact, my beliefs are my lifestyle too. Being a Christian isn't something I do on Sunday. I take offence only when I am dealing with a fool trying to insult my beliefs. You also need to understand there are some people that are Christians that are immature in their beliefs and still learning, so they may be quick to say things that seem strange to you.

well, since most bibles are generally the same, it's not only christians that would believe in what they are quoting. many of the things are very similar in every religion's bibles. but i do agree with your point because i have met many devout christians that are very eager to push their beliefs on everyone... it's pretty annoying too...

Not devout Christians- its decorative and shallow ones who get offended. A true believer or a devout will never react to anyone who is saying anything negative about his religion or God because he has belief in himself.
