If you don't want to believe, then don't. Why are you so insistent on attacking us for our beliefs and starting fights? Why not just mind your own business?

what religion DOESN'T get attacked for their beliefs? i personally don't see any reason to attack any person for their religion. people have the right to have their own faith. it shouldn't matter whose religion is "correct"... because that's why it's called FAITH. i agree with the minding your own business part. but, nobody does that anyways. it's not only christians that get attacked for their beliefs... so this question really should be... why does anyone attack any religion?

You're right, people shouldn't attack others for what they believe. However, I thought every Christian is supposed to spread the word about their religion. Now in order for them to do that successfully, they need to be open to the fact that others will ask questions that may be harsh.

Second, as long as u are not personally attacked, and as long as the issues are discussed with respect and open mind, there should be no problems accepting and answering questions about the validity of your beliefs. Now if somebody thinks that they are being attacked because they are unable to defend their positions on certain issues, then the problem is not with the askers, but with the fact that many believers have believed without thinking putting an effort of using their brain. This makes the believer feel stupid, becomes defencive, leading him/her to believe that people are personally attacking them, where in reality they're only questioning the beliefs.

There's a reason why God send the prophets and the books, not so that people may believe blindly in whatever a man of cloth utters, but so that people believe through proof and evidence.

I don't attack Christians. Have I in the past? Yes. I have a few times. I have bad days just like everyone else. I have not wanted to ever start a fight though. You say why don't we just mind our own business and yet some Christians tell us how we are going to Hell because we don't believe. Don't you think that they should mind their own business too then? I don't hear you sticking up for anyone else. So are you saying that it is fine for Christians to insult everyone that isn't a Christian but no one should attack Christians? I am not trying to be mean here. I just want to know if that is what you are saying.

It would have been nice if you could have defined 'attacked'.

Quite often when a Christian claims they are being attacked, it is when people defend themself against Christians.

A good recent example was a school that wanted to have a faculty led mandatory Christian Prayer. Several students who were not Christians complained, and the schools response to this complaint was that 'Christianity was under attack.'

This might be true, if you define Christianity by it's tendancy to impose on others. Personally I would like to think that Christians defined their own faith as one of love and tolerance. Many say that. Few (that I know) live it.

What would be interesting would be to go to this school and require the student body to participate in a Faculty led Moslem Prayer.

I'm betting that even though the action is identical, the people who wanted to have the Christian Prayer would be furious.

What is even more ludicrous is that the school was told quite clearly that allowing a moment of personal silence, or an optional moment of prayer was allowed, but they also considered an attack on Christianity.

So maybe the answer to your question is this: Christians might feel attacked for their beliefs because they WANT to feel attacked. Maybe it makes them feel holy, and martyr like?

Or more likly it simply that nobody cries harder then the bully, when he finally finds someone who won't be bullied.

I am here criticizing what I consider to be the more rabid/irrational beliefs of Christians today, because I think the recent upswing in activist radical Christians in the U.S. has put this country on a very dangerous course. I think the Bush administration's successful propaganda war to convince American's that the "War on Terror" should be fought in Iraq wouldn't have happened without the support of the base of "God fearing" Americans.

Fortunately it seems that some Christians are waking up to the corruption of the Bush administration and the Republican party. But I think too many Christians still want to make the U.S. be a Christian nation, to tear down the wall separating church and state, and to stop teaching evolution in public class rooms. As long as that continues, I am going to look for ways to fight it. I don't really expect to change a lot of minds here, but every little bit helps, and by participating I hope to learn how to fine tune my message.

Some of these answers are so immature. By the way, we are all hypocrites at one time or another. And everyone has sinned and is a sinner. I am a Christian and SO PROUD TO SAY THAT OUT LOUD!!!! If it wasn't for Christ dying on the cross for me, and the blood he shed for me, I wouldn't be going to Heaven when I die. How ungrateful those of you are to think for one moment that there isn't a God, that there is no Hell, ect....
Think for a moment, you wouldn't be here if it were not for the grace and mercy of God. Every little breath you take and beat your heart makes a second is because He lets it happen. I shudder to think of bashing God. After all, your life is in his hands. It is nice to know 100% that I am going to Heaven and that I have a best friend that will never leave me nor forsake me!! I do not believe in attacking anyone. What does that solve? It just make one angry and want to retaliate back. Hurting someone's feelings isn't right either. I just know that I want to share with everyone the good news I learned almost 21 years ago. That a man called Jesus came to seek and to save that which are lost and that He is not willing that ANY should perish. NOTHING could be better than this news!

Why do you insist on entering those fights? Why not just be the bigger person and turn the other cheek? Isn't that what Jesus said to do?

There are a number of reasons people attack Christian beliefs, and if you think about it there is the scantest bit of logic behind it: a number of people who commited very bad acts said they were carrying out the will of God.

If your religion just goes and slaughters a bunch of people for not being Christian, you can bet non-Christians aren't really going to be nice.

However, you should kindly and calmly point out that many true Christians aren't intrusive on other people, and don't wish harm upon them for anything. Tell them that you feel bad that you're attacking her religion based on knowing about people who only claim to believe in God, but probably truely don't. Would God really want non-Christians to be treated bad by Christians with power? No, he'd rather they either willingly convert on their own, or be left to the life they chose, because God gave them the free will to decide if they want to believe or not.

Just remember this when you see things in law come up that you don't agree with. Is it really fair for your God to force beliefs on others? He didn't want that, He said you could try getting them to believe, and if they refused to just let them be.

i think of they attack christian ideals in basic terms to fill of their time between ingesting little ones.. ..in basic terms kidding. No... somewhat, they do it through fact the christians are continuously attacking them. that is not significant through fact the two aspects come out looking extra pretend than a flesh presser with a to blame judgment of right and incorrect (no longer that certainly one of those element actuially exists, that's sorta the element). The extra the christians rant and rave the fewer 'Christ-like' they grow to be, and the extra the atheists rant and rave the extra they appear like pompous boastful idiots. They the two undo one yet another. the rest persons in basic terms take a seat lower back and element this out to our young little ones and coach them "by no ability finally end up sounding like those ignorant human beings". the two aspects carry out a good service in guiding our little ones far flung from being like them. Have a constructive day.

I live a Pagan life.

not only do i refuse to hide my lifestyle from others i refuse to not be seen for what i am.

I am not showboating or trying to force my beliefs on others.

but since the Holy roman empire pagans have been hunted and killed off by followers fo the christian religion. many today still practice in secret. I refuse to do this. I am a good person and a good Pagan. i will not allow anyone to tell me that i have to hide that. i will not allow anyone to try to force me to be what i a not.

I come here and i offer advise. mainly because i can and i feel that as an Ordained Minister it is somewhat my duty to try to educate people when they ask about my beliefs.

sometimes a see questions asked by Christians that are simply being deragatory in nature to me and my fellow pagans. even here i still try to educate. i may use strong words because people that use strong words usually understand nothing but string words.

on occasion i see people that have a question about God or Jesus that i may be able to answer. i have studied most world religions so when i have an answer i tell them but i make sure that they know that i am not Christian and that the answer is from a Pagan viewpoint.

i respect all religions, but when people start to disrespect mine i will speak my mind. i will be very quick to point out the hyproacy and evil that has been done in the name of God and Jesus.
I am also quick to point out that this evil is done in his name but not by him.

i do not attack a Christian's beliefs, but i will attack their belief that it is OK to attack mine because i am not of their viewpoint.
i will also point out how this is in contradiction of their own religion and against the teachings of Jesus.

so long as people respect me and mine i will respect them and theirs. but respect is a 2 way street. and you cannot drive in the middle

Maybe you just don't know so I won't blame you for your ignorance.

When we have a president who pushes his religious agenda upon the people (and other countries), it's my problem.

When atheists are actually persecuted more than gays, it's my problem.

When xians say I'm going to hell cos I don't believe what they believe, it's my problem.

When school boards and local govt's fight to have religious symbols in their class and court rooms, it's my problem (though I don't care about the court rooms).

When church and State are no longer separate, it's my problem.

Did you get the point yet? Your beliefs don't just revolve around you. They affect me, too, regardless whether or not YOU did anything.
