"An exhaustive search of the literature finds no credible reports of deaths induced by marijuana. The US Drug Abuse Warning Network records instances of drug mentions in medical examiners' reports, and though marijuana is mentioned, it is usually in combination with alcohol or other drugs. Marijuana alone has not been shown to cause an overdose death” - Quote via the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Administration

“Tobacco use is considered to be the most important preventable cause of death and disease in the United States; More than 1 billion people smoke worldwide, and an estimated 3 million die each year from tobacco-related illness. Despite all of its documented consequences, tobacco use continues to play an important role in the morbidity and mortality of this country (U.S.)”- Quote via U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services

My religion learns me i should love all but sometimes it's very hard.Do you sometimes find it hard to love strangers and all people or do you just hate everyone around you?

I have no problem with going to church on Saturday. So that isn't a false belief. Of course, I have no problem with going to church on any day.

What if we had the Iraqi's try to stabulize Iran, and help Isreal from jumping every time hezzbula snezzes on their side? Could their be a practice in how to tolerate each other and ask some real questions so we can learn something? It always seems in any of theses type of Q&A it has it's class room clown, who wrecks it for everyone, by hurting some one. I can see some of the hate crimes in here that could be called terrorism.? Why do some allways wreck it for others, is my question? Some don't even say anything that matches a a very smart question. Thats what this is for, so if you don't have any knowledge in one question, move on, you,ll find a question that might HELP some one else.

I have gone WAY out of my way this morning in my questions to ask BOTH theists and atheists to tell us the basis for their beliefs.

Oh, I have an opinion, but I have attempted to formulate neutral questions. And I think I achieved that.

Now that I've been flamed by people for doing nothing more than asking unbiased questions, I'm about done with neutrality.

Has anyone else noticed that when I asked questions that concerned people explaining the basis for their beliefs, that only christians* ended up getting very hostile?

No atheist attacked me for asking them why they don't believe in god.
But the christians attacked me for asking them why they do.

If you truly have faith and confidence in your own position, why would you get hostile with someone when all they are doing is asking you to tell them about the basis of your position?????

*disclaimer: not ALL christians did this. Some seemed happy to discuss their faith.

Sometimes I wonder where is my little fuzzy baby, what is he up to and will I regret it later. Sometimes, when he is with me and keeping me company like a good little buddy. He gets playful in a kitty cat way, and then there is that look in his eyes - the look of trouble.
Is it worrysome or should I not be concerned about it, cats will be cats - right?

Or do most Christians/you blot out those nasty occernces from their religious perspective of the history of the world?

There is no evedance of any form that I have been able to find that suggest that any BIBLICAL SCOLARES have said that their version is the ONLY true version of the bible. In addation to this statement/question I have found Very evident changes to many of the verses throughout their "translation" Which seem to only fit THEIR doctrine. Also why do the authers of the JW's "translation" wish to remain ANNONYMOS?

I'm sure I'll get some nasty replies about this, but: I am an atheist, and fully believe in evolution, which is obviously a far more proven theory than a god creating heaven and Earth. So, why do people believe in god? I went to church when I was younger, and feel that it was pretty worthless. With all of the science out there, how do people believe that god exists? A lot of people that believe in god are just as, if not more immoral that people that don't. Plenty of people that believe in god also cheat on their spouse, lie, steal, etc...

We have been running an accountancy business on a High Street for 4 years, and have knocked through to the building next door (also a former high street business) and now the council say we have to have a disabled access & toilet (we currently have no wheelchair users as clients mind you)- no problem say we, we will fit one to the sliding doors at the rear of the property, as a ramp on the high street would block the pavement Now they are saying that this "discriminates" against the disabled, because they have to go to the rear, therefore we should CLOSE OFF our lovley high street front door to our newly built reception area and force ALL clients to use the rear wheelchair ramp as our only entrance so as not to upset the hypothetical disabled clients! These buildings have been used as high street business premesis for 40 years, and NONE of the dozens of shops in the street have even one disabled access. Why me? I am fuming, I can't believe it. I'm going to my MP. Your Views?

My bestfriend's ex boyfriend has been gay for about 8 years and said he does not believe in Gay marriage for that very reason. I didn't even come up with a question this good my gay friend did. If you would like to speak to him your self on these views I'll ask him if he would. I thought it was just such a smart argument I had to in a sense steal someone's insight.

what is wrong with you people?? you seriously think if you dont believe in god or jesus your going to hell? think again your lives are based on your works on this earth not on being forgiven or following christ around. i believe in god and i am not even a christian and i know that i am going to heaven for i have repaid my sins in full and my works in full for i have spoken to god too and i have even listened to the world around me. if christians really think this way then i feel sorry for you all and as my father once said "never hate anyone just pity them for they will have there day of justice" i have to agree with that statement. if you really want to be christ- like then follow your own beliefs and do not try to get others to convert to your beliefs....

i am a pantheist and i know my facts and i am not a ignorant person just someone who is standing up for his rights as a being of earth

Okay, in Job Satan tells God that Job is only faithful to him because God gives him so much. So why does God start ruining Job's life just to prove a point to Satan? Why should he care what Satan says? This question has been troubling me and I bet somebody here has an answer for me.

Whats the difference between Evolution and mutation?

After posting a question:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsxhqpV.D9V_O1pQHu62fB7sy6IX?qid=20060831091406AACZ6UU

I got a few responses that seperated evolution from mutation. Personally I dont see any difference. Both accour so that the organism has a better chance at survival.

Also got a few responses mentioning micro-evolution! In order for there to be micro-evolution there would also have to be macro-evolution, otherwise the micro part would just be redundant. It would be like having an "authors preffered version" of a book without having a regular version of the book.

So 3 questions really.
1. Whats the difference between mutation and evolution?
2. How can there be micro-evolution without macro-evolution?
3. what do you call it when a virus changes itself to overcome obstaciles and increase its chances for survival?
