I'm a Catholic myself and I agree whole-heartedly with you. You don't have to join one particualr religion or faith to obtain heaven. Not according to catholic doctrine anyway. Unfortuntely most Catholics don't even know their own faith. The church's view on this is that in order to obtain heaven all one has to do is live their life to the best of their abilty to the best of their knowledge. Being Christian has nothing to do with it. If it did then that would mean that murders and rapists that are christians have a much better chance of getting into heaven than say a practicioner of Shintoism that is a truly good person. God is supposed to be just. Where is the justice in that. I know your beliefs differs from mine, but I still think you have as good a shot of obtaining paradise as anyone else.

I'm curious...how have you repaid your sins in full? Does that mean you are done sinning?
Saying that your works on earth have allowed you to repay your sins, it makes me wonder how you gauge what it takes to go to heaven. How many good acts does it take? You can say 5 and I can say 10...but really doesn't it come down to God's gauge of "good"? Wouldn't you agree that God demands perfection?
I can ask myself...would if you're right?
But I have to throw it back to you and ask...would if you're wrong?
Doesn't it make you wonder why so many people are telling you the same thing? If it's not true, then their answers would be very different. Think about this...people don't die because of a lie. If it wasn't true, why have so many Christians been beaten and murdered because they believed in Jesus so much. There is no other religion that talks about a savior. Why would you rely on your own efforts and to do "works" to repay your sins when someone already has.
I would never say that someone is going to hell because they don't believe in Jesus. That's a horrible thing to say...in fact I don't believe Jesus would even say that to you. I'm sorry you are getting that kind of feedback. Please know that he is not against you despite what people say. He knows you and he loves you.

Dear Guardian Angel,
May I first say that everyone who says they are a "Christian" may not be a christian. I am sure you know that the individuals who flew the planes into the World Trade Center said they were pilots and even looked like airline pilots. However, airline pilots usually are concerned about the lives and safety of their passengers.....those men did not! Doctors take an oath concerning the for the life and health of their patients. Do you recall the M.D. who sexually molested and raped his female patients while they were under anesthesia? That man may have had an M.D. but he was not a doctor!
I say all this to show you that a person can state many things but what does their life say? In other words, what kind of fruit is coming forth from them?
Last, but not least, let me say that I cannot "convert" anyone regardless of how long I preach or teach them. This is something that is so misunderstood by "christians" in Yahoo Answers! One does not become a child of God because they join a church or make a profession or get baptized in water! Christianity is not a club that one joins like the Rotary Club or the VFW. To become a Christian, One has to be "born" into God's kingdom, hence the term "born again." None of us had any say in when we would be born, or what we would look like, or are physical or mental abilities! God is control of ALL these things just as He determines who is going to "born again." He chooses who is going to become His, and it is not based on anything we do........

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is our God and Saviour. Please read Matthew 19:16-30. In short it is about a rich young man who asks Jesus how to get eternal life. You'll get to find out that he has kept all his commands and implies that he is morally good. But Jesus said if you want to be perfect go and sell your possessions give to the poor and then follow me. The rich young man couldn't do it. You need to note the last instruction '...then follow me'. It didn't say God but me (Jesus).
Jesus also said that he is the way, the truth and the life. Notice that he didnt just say I am the way. He also elaborated and said 'I am the truth!' - I believe this is a foresight in knowing that people will question about his authenticity. Furthermore he said 'I am the life' - I understand this to mean that he is the giver of life and would make your life more worthy of living.
In the end it is still your decision. Why not pray to God for guidance and to reveal the truth to you?

I would just like to point out that Christianity is not the only religion which believes that only people in their faith will go to heaven while everyone else goes to hell. For example, Judaism and Islam are exclusive religions as well. Almost without exceptions, all religions believe their faith is the only real faith. What I am trying to say is if you want to attack Christianity because of its exclusiveness then you might as well attack every other religion in the world as well. I should also point out that I am neither a Christian, Muslim or a believer in any other faith. But, I respect religion and I try to keep an open mind.
And, based on your own words, it seems you are not very tolerant of Christians or Christianity. Are you not practicing the same intolerance that you accuse Christians of committing?

Being a pantheist is not enough. God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to be the Messiah and that whoever believes in Jesus will not forfeit their souls. 100% of people have sinned and therefore fall short of what God wants for them. Think of it this way: there is a chasm between Man and God. There is no way across the chasm, no matter how hard you try. God provided Jesus to be blameless, therefore providing a bridge from Him to us. This bridge is narrow and many do not believe, going to a different "bridge" that is much wider and doesn't span the chasm, contrary to what they think. Hence, he who believes in Jesus as their personal savior will not forfeit his soul: whoever does not believe that Jesus died for them will forfeit their soul to Hell; but the wrath of God - we're talking wrath that destroys more than anyone can imagine - will fall on him. No doubt you've heard of the term "all Hell will break lose", but that's nothing compared to when all Heaven breaks lose.
Beleive what you will, but don't have a "holier than thou" attitude.

I consider myself a conservative type of Christian but not really a fundie. I believe the Bible and believe in Hell, but I believe that the Hellfire thing is symbolic, not literal. I believe there may be different levels of Hell(and Heaven too).

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. No hate here just annoyed. You haven't educated yourself on Jesus OR the bible so HOW can you justifiably make any accusations that Christians are wrong? The fact is that the bible states that you cannot enter heaven on works alone. You can't get there by being GOOD either...only by being repentant and accepting of who Christ is. As a Christian one DESIRES to be good and to do good works naturally or their faith is not fruitful. Accepting Christ is YOUR CHOICE and no one really wants to try and force it on you, however you must accept that it is quite black or white. Choice A or B. Eternal life or Eternal death. Which is it gonna be pal?
"Unless one becomes born again they can in no way enter the kingdom." This is WHAT IT SAYS!

My life is not based on my works here on earth. Its my choice to live my life for God. And if your so offended by what Christians say why are you on this site to begin with? As for your statement on trying to get others to convert. Im sorry but I dont ever want another souls blood on my hands because I was afraid to speak up and praise God, and tell his truth. People ask quistions on here everyday and should expect answers wether it be of the same opinion or of a different opinion. If your being offended by answers or quistions I am sorry to tell you but your in the wrong place.

Well,if you are not a christian then how do you believe in hell? You are suppose to testify to your beliefs and bring people to god.My guess is you just don't want to have to live your life like a Christian.
Pantheists do not propose belief in a deity; rather, they hold nature itself as a creative presence. Pantheism reconciles science and religion through ecology leading to strong environmental awareness.
How does that fit in with you believing in god and hell?
