I have tried but can't speak in "tongues", does that mean I am not a real christian? If it is a gift from the Holy Spirit, how come some people do it and others can't? also why can't people understand it and translate???

I have been in the construction management business for 10 years. Every project that I go to, I am confronted with White Overweight Superindendents on the project who wears plaid shirts and drives American Cars. They also have the same personality and character as follows: bullies, shouts, has no manners, overemotional, blue collar manners, uncomfortable in dealing with non-whites management and college educated asians who has authority over them, lies for more money, tries to intimidate to get more money due to greed, and unlikeable farts.

I'm renting a room in NYC, & one of the people told me I have to take out my trash because it stinks. Well, why doesn't her trash in the kitchen smell bad? I just had 1 bag, while she had 5 bags with rats inside the trash. I put my trash in the kitchen to prevent rats from being in my bedroom, & it wasn't even full. I'm not gonna waste an unfilled trash bag-especially if I'm on a low budget.

I have a friend who thinks he’s a Christian because he’s nice to people and goes to Church every now and again.

Back in December I called him to wish him a Merry Christmas and he told me that God had changed his life and he was “really getting into church and ‘stuff’”. So, I asked him straight out if he was a Christian and he said, “Absolutely!” In my excitement I didn’t question any further.

A few months later, he told my about his trip to see a psychic and how this person taught him how to meditate and how it makes him closer to God. At that, I KNEW something was wrong. So, we started a 1-on-1 Bible study. (I do the teaching.) I’m pretty tough on him and one day, I flat out asked him, “Dude, why do you go to church?” He told me they play the kind of music he likes, he gets to go hang out with like-minded people, hear some encouragement from the Bible and listen to some good music.

Question: How do you witness to a person who is in left-field but thinks he's saved?

Apparently in Alcoholics Anonymous it is!

At an AA meeting last night, I spoke of empowering oneself and "accepting" the positive use of energy or power to change an often painful behaviour like the additiction to the drug alcohol. I was told that I had a disease and in denial! Furthermore, the word got out amonst the cult memebers that I have no God or deity and they all started to prostelytize me with their Christian God. One cult member said it was alright to have a door knob for a "higher power" and then laughed at me. What in the world is going on here?

I sit in cubeville and an outside consultant comes in two days a week and sits in the cube next to me. The cube walls are not very high (you can see the other person's head if you look over).

The girl next to me, without fail, eats a piece of gum after lunch and proceeds to snap it, blow bubbles and chew loudly until it's time to leave at 4pm.

I don't want to come off as a *****. How do I politely tell her she is annoying the hell out of me? Do I say something? Do I email her? I am ready to take the gum and shove it down her throat....so any advice would be great. Thanks!

I'm not trying to be offensive to anyone, this is a serious question. From my reading of the Old Testament of the Bible, not all Israelites are considered Jews (just the ones from the tribes of Benjamin and Judah). The other ten tribes were still referred to as Israelites. Does this make the other ten tribes Gentiles, or are Gentiles anyone not of Israelite/Jewish descent?

Do you think there's a level of faith people put into science? I get told all the time to question my beliefs as a Christian and not to just blindly follow what my pastor tells me on Sunday (I started out atheist and found God through reason not by going to church). I propose that people put every bit as much faith in science. Their bibles are the textbooks they read in class. They have full trust in experiments they didn't perform themselves nor even know the people who did them. In addition science is not objective. It is very much subjective. One only needs to look at the global warming debate to see that. In the end if someone wants to beleive something they will find reason to believe it. So wheter you don't beleive in God or you do. I think it comes down to what you ultimately want to believe. What do you think?

I'm wondering if anyone can give me the reference in the Bible where Jesus saves the prostitute from being stoned to death, telling the men that whoever of them was without sin to throw the first stone. Jesus then tells the woman to go and sin no more. If anyone could give me the reference, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Even though I was on the circuit and spoke in many churches, I am Bible taught, not church taught. There are many simple church traditions I am not aware of. ( why is it that when you write about God, you do it this way G-d?) Is there any scripture for this or are you told in your denomination. My sins are..stealing, fornication, lying, idolatry, drunkenness, smoking, presumptuousness, spiritism, jealousy, fits of anger, cussing, unforigveness, pornoghaphy, divisions, relying on myself, haughtiness greediness, having a double heart, loose conduct..He that is confessing them and leaving them will be shown mercy.

Paul brings back much of the old Judaic law in many cases. He classifies sin where Jesus said Judge not. I actually think Paul is heretical in some cases. What do you think?

Not legal immigrants, ILLEGAL ones. They are breaking the law, and all I hear is "we're ALL immigrants except Native Americans". OK, true but we are here legally, speak English and pay taxes. Why do people get so defensive when this issue is brought up? They are breaking the law, living here tax-free and OUR tax dollars pay for THEIR medical care! How is this right or fair? And WE have to learn Spanish to accomodate them??? That is NOT fair!
