I'm renting a room in NYC, & one of the people told me I have to take out my trash because it stinks. Well, why doesn't her trash in the kitchen smell bad? I just had 1 bag, while she had 5 bags with rats inside the trash. I put my trash in the kitchen to prevent rats from being in my bedroom, & it wasn't even full. I'm not gonna waste an unfilled trash bag-especially if I'm on a low budget.

Why didn't you just take it outside to the dumpster? What kind of place are you living in that allows people to keep 5 bags of trash inside for so long that it attracts rats??

Well it sounds like you have two choices.

Either do as your landlord asks (seeing as it is their home)
or you can move out.
Maybe you had something in your bag of trash that really did stink? I don't know.

What I do know is that you do not want to make waves with your landlord otherwise you may end up living under a bridge or something.
Cheap rooms, apts whatever are not easy to find in NYC.
