Why is it that race plays a big part in our everyday lives and relationships? Why is it that getting ahead in life seems to do more with the color of your skin than your integrity?

Will we ever get over the "race" card???

Please don't think I'm being disrespectful to either voodoo or Islam, I just don't KNOW what this is and think it's religious in origin (a religion I'm not familar with). Something WEIRD has been going on for about two weeks now outside my work. A girl pulls up in a white SUV every day, sometimes several times a day. We don’t know who she is, she’s a black girl, looks fairly young, probably in her 20s, maybe 30s. She’ll pull up to one side of our parking lot, leave the car running, open the driver’s side door, and sit sideways, facing out of the open door. She appears to lick one or both her hands, touch the parking lot, shake her hand as if she’s trying to get the spit off her hand and do it all over again. Lick hand, touch ground, shake her hand. She’ll do it for a few minutes and then drive away. She did this at around 8:30 this morning and yesterday I saw her about 2:30 p.m. (I know muslims pray several times a day which is the reason I mentioned the muslim religion) Any ideas?!!

Especially a stranger in a store, it's annoying in my opinion when someone is cracking their gum. I don't think I should leave the area because of someones obnoxious behavior.

This day has a deep and profound meaning for all of us who went through it but I have honestly been taken aback by many many of the reactions I've seen in people who were not directly affected by this storm. We have repaired our clocks, cleaned up the mess and are looking to the future on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We feel closer as a community and try to support one another because we have A LOT of change to adjust to.

I am always surprised at the depth of compassion people show us and also at the occasional raw condemnation and hatred shown. My question--Why did this event move so many people so much, for good and for bad?

I feel like I must absolve people of their guilt sometimes when I am talking to them (people from outside).

I am a Japanese 25 years old girl single, tired of Buddhism; want to convert a religion to pray for God.
However no idea, which one is better? Christianity or Islam? As I heard they both pray to the same God, and they have both one Satan.
However, I really do not know what the difference is and which one is good; to follow for the future and God would send me to heaven.

All across the world and in every culture one can find the basic human values like love,truth,caring, honesty, respect for a fellow human being etc etc. The abundant literature, cultural ethos of every society approves it. What exactly do these people expect. Teachers are afraid. Not much parental guidance, if any at all, drug dealers (hello, if you sell drugs, junkies will move into your neighborhood), gang violence and all this is blamed on a lack of education. WELLLL, if you stop making it a dangerous place, I bet you will have a better chance of getting good educators in your schools. Anyone agree?
