So is it only orthodox Jews who think that the Messiah is still to come or all Jews think that way? There are 3 kinds of Jews? (askenasin, orthodox and sepharadite - sorry for spelling mistakes) How do you call the followers of Kabbalah?

Websites are welcome but direct answers are even more appreciated. I ask because I am trying to understand you better guys.

Ashkenazim (German/Eastern European) and Sephardi (Spanish/Middle Eastern) are designations based on where the Jews come from.

As far as religious views there are the Orthodox, Conservative and Reform (there are other groups but they fall under one of the three major groups umbrellas).

Messianic views differ from Orthodox that believe in a personal Messiah and Reform which believe in a Messianic age brought about by social action.

Kabbalah is Jewish Mysticism

There are many different ways to define a Jew. The 2 main ones- Either by ancestor's place of birth, which determines customs, or by level of observance. The former is Ashkanazic, Sefardic, Yeminite, which can also be split up farther- Polish, German, Russian, Moroccan, etc. Levels of observance: Orthodox, Conservative (Which is more of a spectrum), Reform, and Reconstructionist. Orthodox are the ones who do what the Torah says. All of the real followers of Kabbalah (not the fake Hollywood stuff) are Orthodox, and are called M'Koobulim. Chasidim are members of a branch of Orthodoxy. They believe that the Messiah will come. Conservative follow some laws, but say that others are 'outdated'. Most of them don't believe that the Temple we be rebuilt, but some might. Reform and Reconstructionist don't really believe in the Torah (Sorry, I'm not p.c.)

Er, um ,ah,? Is a christian allowed to answer this?
Well, as far as I know, all jews that havent accepted Jesus as the messiah "mashiach" still beleive the messiah is still to come.
You should do some study into messianic judaism, hopefully you may gain a better understanding. I am also trying as a christian to understand my jewish brothers better also.
A scripture you may be interested in is Zechariah 12 :10 "and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced" indicating that when the messiah does come, he will be here for the second time? I dont know a lot about the jewish viewpoint you are describing but I will endevour to study this deeper. Hope my info helps?
