Please don't think I'm being disrespectful to either voodoo or Islam, I just don't KNOW what this is and think it's religious in origin (a religion I'm not familar with). Something WEIRD has been going on for about two weeks now outside my work. A girl pulls up in a white SUV every day, sometimes several times a day. We don’t know who she is, she’s a black girl, looks fairly young, probably in her 20s, maybe 30s. She’ll pull up to one side of our parking lot, leave the car running, open the driver’s side door, and sit sideways, facing out of the open door. She appears to lick one or both her hands, touch the parking lot, shake her hand as if she’s trying to get the spit off her hand and do it all over again. Lick hand, touch ground, shake her hand. She’ll do it for a few minutes and then drive away. She did this at around 8:30 this morning and yesterday I saw her about 2:30 p.m. (I know muslims pray several times a day which is the reason I mentioned the muslim religion) Any ideas?!!

She appears to be facing North when she does this and she only touches the ground for a second or two. She does not look familiar, no one knows who she is. I work for a non-profit, I would hope she's not trying to curse a non-profit organization! Anyway, keep the answers coming. We may report her to the police for suspicious activity if we can't figure it out because it's creeping out all of our staff!!

Thanks for all the info thus far. I am friends with several wiccans so I'm somewhat familiar with wiccan and I know that wiccans (as well as some who practice voodoo) usually do not curse people. I do think that some religions are misunderstood greatly. But I still don't know WHAT this is. Perhaps it is a ritual she has invented herself. That's as best as we can come up with! If anyone else has further insight, please do share!

Could be a curse, could be a blessing. Not Muslim. Could be Voodoo or traditional Witchcraft. She might just be trying to get information. How long does she touch the parking lot before she shakes? She could be "reading" the area. She's probably stalking some guy that dumped her. Honestly though, she might just be saving herself a parking spot. I do a similar thing during the school year when the lot's usually full to make sure I have a spot the next day. But I just generally do it at the end of the day.

Barring the existence of an ultra-eccentric wing Muslim group that I've obviously never heard of, there is the possibility that the person is performing a ritual (of voodoo or witchcraft origin, definitely not one of Muslim, or of any major organized religion I know of) of sorts. Given that I have no specific knowledge of certain rituals, nor of your location, I cannot pinpoint the specific belief system of the ritualist in question.

You may report the incident to the police, wherein the person will most likely declare that they are practicing their religion, wherein the person (or her lawyer) may explain what the religion is and what the practice is about. In most cases, it should be sufficient to end it...

It sounds like she needs mental help. I practice Vodou and that is not a practice. I am also learning Hoodoo (African folk magic) and I not heard of anything like that. Noone in there right mind would lick there hands and then put them on the ground then lick them again. That is sick.

Besides you can not curse a corporation only a person. But in order for it to work you have to tell the person what you are doing. For the record we don't curse people. I have spoken with people who have done it before using brujeria (spanish witchcraft). Vodou and most Hoodoo practitioners DO NOT curse others.

It may be she has obssesive-compulsive behavior disorder. They are often compelled to do strange "rituals", like the one you described. Muslims face Mecca (which is East), and it's unlikely a Muslim would pray in a parking lot.

You have to consider the fact she might be mentally ill, and from your descriptions and my education in the fields of religious practices and psychology, I'd say so is mentally ill most likely.

I can't claim to know what she's doing, but as far as Islam goes..I have never heard of any ritual or practice that even remotely resembles what she's doing.

It's not voodoo, unless it's a ritual she's made up herself. It doesn't sound as if she's creating a veve.

Whatever she's doing, don't worry about it. She's doing something superstitious that has no real effect. She's harming nobody and it apparently makes her feel good to do it.
