Saw an Ad on the TV the other night for a razor with 5 blades, it was just a couple of years ago it was 3 with the 'Mach III'. and a few before that that 2 blades was a big deal. Every year they add another blade and tell you it's the closest shave yet and some other balony to get you to buy one. Where do you think it will all end how far can they go?

I can understand Christians and Muslims and Jews, etc... promoting or sharing their own religion... but why do so many atheists spend so much time in the religion section telling people that God doesn't exist?

and please don't tell me "it's because he doesn't" unless you are just that desperate for two points.

We read in the news again today that yet another stabbing has taken place, with the police response being again answered with " we do not have the man power to deal with all enquiries" and have to prioritise every call.I simply recall being stopped by 2, yes 2 officers who were standing on a street corner in Feltham, Middlesex a few months back stopping drivers who were not wearing seat belts. I openly admit I was in the wrong by not having my seat belt fastened ( although I was just exiting a car park. ) However I must say I am normally meticules regarding seat belts as I have 2 young children and insist they must wear belts in the car. I paid the £30 fixed penalty but wonder how a "stretched" police force can afford to deploy 2 officers on such a menial assignment. Has anyone else noticed such a waste of police man-power, while serious crimes are being committed all around us.

This is a serious request, not a fraud. I need help from my community in finding a safe place to live and suggestions on how to get there. As this is becoming a frequently dangerous place to live-1.5 transgendered persons are murdered everyday by hate criminals-soon the real ID Act will take force and for me it means that without the proper documentation I will not be able to obtain a passport. I am from Ohio and only Ohio can change the sex designation on my birth certificate, which it will probably never do and I can't wait. So me and thousands of others will be non persons and will not be allowed to leave the country. So I need suggestions [no hate please, already had my share] on where a tranny can move to have a free life and ideas about how to raise funds to do so since I live in a town of 1500 conservative people, am 55 and cannot find gainful employment. Australia is starting to sound like it maybe a great place. Anybody know anything?

When I started answering questions on here, I felt that I should always give the REASONS why I made the statement. The whys and wherefores that brought me to my conclusion.

If in the future, I gave an answer and just said "references available," would that work?

Would those of you who really wanted to know what those references were, would you ask for them by email?

Is it better to give short answers with references available than long ones?

I have heard people say the most bigoted, disgusting things, and then claim "But I'm not racist or anything..." What gives? We all know you're racist. I'd have more respect for you if you just came out and admitted it.

Like, why is there more than one? If you ask me it's the "God" believers who can't agree. Why can't you all agree on one "God"? People who don't believe in any "God" all agree on the same thing, with them it's unanimous. So shouldn't all of the believers change to be non-believers and we'll all just get along while believing the same thing? When will it ever end?

There are many scientific studies linking culture, ecology, violence and religious belief. The evidence suggests that the more full the landscape (jungles, etc.) the more likely the people are to feel connected and safe, thus producing polytheistic and inclusive belief systems. Monogamy is more prevalent, and women seen as equals, because they can produce from the rich landscape as well as the men, and there is lass emphasis on purely physical security. Monotheism is then seen as a product of people living in barren, exposed landscapes, with war and famine being common. God is often a vengeful, protective masculine figure in these systems. The technological advances of the modern world are creating a new mixture of isolation and connectivity; too many choices, not enough personal contact. Is this one reason why the old religions are not serving our current need? Do we need to move back to fundamental experiences and build our spirituality anew?
